Lets All Destroy Our Computers!
I like to stay away from starting threads about myself and other mundane things, but JESUS, I hate my computer!
I've gone through a week of hell with the stupid thing (I'm sure you've all noticed I've been absent, and if you haven't keep it to yourself!). Anyway, I took to some geeks to fix, honestly the company is called Geeks, and they told me it was a 'lost cause, hopeless, and a machine with a lot of problems'. I paid $47.00 for them to tell me this, I pick it up, take it home, and it decides it's not sick anymore. Granted I've lost everything, I'm here. Anyway, what did I miss? |
Welcome back. The world music thread needs a little injection of life or we'll all be all listening to Dinosaur Jr until the new millennium.

The end is near. Well, I'll upload some stuff as soon as this machine wants to fully cooperate. |
I'll join in on this computer destroying, I've has an iPod since the summer and haven't been able to add new songs to it because my computer is a fucking cunt. Windows 2000 rot in HELL.

Thats a bummer, Emmah. Huge fuck up machines, they are!

shit man. maybe you just need a mac. i personally can't stand them, but they are good for some. they crash-- they do! but you can't do anything about it, unlike pcs, and in that way they avoid headaches-- they work or they won't-- simply that. they do work most of the time though. you didn' tmiss much i guess. it's been pretty slow lately. o wait noumenal is back! that's gotta be some of the best news for this board. of course im sure this jeopardizes the quality of his own life. :p |

нет. I shall later. |
Poor EMMAh and Пятхъдесят Шест. Computers are stupid, but great at the same time. Where would we be without them?

I've always wanted a MAC, my friend teases me with her MAC, whore. Noumenal returning is good news. Heres to wondering if he ever finished Dead Souls. |

you might want to upgrade to xp pro-- not home. 2000 is great & solid but not very user-friendly: a server OS, really. |

It's not up to me, it's up to mother of mine. A couple months ago she was looking into buying a new computer but as far as I know she's changed her mind. She doesn't give a shit anyway, the time she spends on the computer is minimal. |

I'd probably be doing something a little more constructive than posting here haha. |

oh, that. hm... well... i'd say learn to build computers, but you don't seem the type :D agh, i gotta go... work! |

:confused:No, I didn't. I read Ada, or Ardor by Nabokov instead, among other things. I read a lot of books over the summer and fall. Anyway, I needed a break from several things, SY forum being one of them. I kind of feel like an asshole for jetting off with no explanation, and I'm sorry about that. :( It's probably a good idea if I don't try to take charge of anything around here from now on, because I'm not "internet dependable," I suppose. And I'm not sure how much I'm going to be around. But nice to see you again, Russian letters. I'm glad you think my return is good news. |

Nah, I'm really not. I did figure out my problem though (well someone on an iPod forum directed me to a troubleshooting thing) |

The Book Club died when you left, we were lost without your leadership. I'm nearly done reading it, and excited to see a local theater has adapted it into a play. |
Well, I hope you have enjoyed the book -- I wasn't really diggin it too much. I knew that the book club was not holding together well and figured it might break up if I split. It probably would have even if I hadn't. Oh well.
|
My two computers are still functioning fine.
|
I say we destroy all the fucking things before they destroy us.
You folks've seen The Terminator, right? It's only a matter of time. |

my situation is the oppostie. my ipod keeps breaking down cause it can't handle shit. now i can only listen to it while it's charging |
Quote:
fuck "leadership". what you really mean is that we couldn't count on the blessings of arthelion. |
Quote:
Oh! Thats right, Arthelion! I forgot the hidden agenda of the Book Cult, er Club. Kegmama, thats what I'm talking about! |
I read this book recently, The Arthelion Delusion by Dick Dawkins, and it really changed my perspective on things. I mean, I'm not sure if I believe in Arthelion any more. Either way, I'm pissed at him, though. Fuck Arthelion. But I guess that means I believe in him. I don't know any more. I'm scared.

I need Teepee for my bunghole! You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Kegmama again. |
ARGH.
Now I'm looking for help, not mental help, but computer help. The problem is making me go mental however. Does anyone know why Windows Media Player would have this message pop up when trying to stream audio or movies online? Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is located on the Internet, connect to the Internet. If the file is located on a removable storage card, insert the storage card. Anyone, anyone? Help me please. |
Is this any help?
Why do I get error C00D10B3 when I try to stream content? Error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is located on the Internet, connect to the Internet. If the file is located on a removable storage card, insert the storage card." Your Internet connection is blocked. This could be caused by your computer's firewall or Windows Media Player may be set to work offline. To confirm that the Player can connect through your firewall, you should review your firewall documentation and make any necessary adjustments. To see if the Player is set to work offline, click the File menu in the Player to verify if a check mark is displayed next to the Work Offline command. If it is, to clear the check mark and enable the Player to connect to the network, click Work Offline. Note that if you are trying to play the file from a computer in your office, your corporate network administrator may prevent the Player from accessing the Internet, even if you remove the check mark next to Work Offline. In this case, contact your network administrator for more information. If you want to continue to work offline but allow Windows Media Player (Windows Media Player 9 Series or later) to connect to the Internet when it needs to, you can do the following: 1. In the Player, on the Tools menu, click Options. 2. In the Options dialog box, on the Player tab, click Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands). For earlier versions of the Player, in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, see article 317101, "Error Message: Windows Media Player Error C00D10B3 - Unable to Access the Network." |
Ah, thanks Hipster. This is helping!
How on Earth was I going to be able to hear some Shortwave Stations that avoid my area?? |
