Damn, I'm a few days too old for them! I wish I identified myself less by my age, then maybe I could fake it...

Alex's Trip 01.21.2007 03:42 PM

My English teacher has a myspace. It is pretty cool. He sends out bulletins about homework changes, and he asks everyone to repost it to get the word out.

He sounds hip. But seriously, that's a good way to get the myspace nerds doing their homework.

val-holla-ing 01.21.2007 04:48 PM

He is quite hip. He told me about this David Lynch thing that I will be going to tonight at the Kodak Theater.

val-holla-ing 01.21.2007 04:53 PM

what's this david lynch thing you speak of?

Alex's Trip 01.21.2007 04:57 PM

Let me find a site...

Dead-Air 01.21.2007 05:44 PM

I would say the bulk of musicians I've come across with My Space profiles are over 30. Seeing as post-punk broke in '80s, how could that be any different? Somehow, I don't think that buzzfeed article was speaking to them though. More like, "Can I have a My Space and still be boring? Is it a good way to stay in touch with other people who come home from work and watch t.v. until they fall asleep?"

pokkeherrie 01.21.2007 07:40 PM

i don't know... i'd hope it isn't real, but if it's a joke then it's not a funny one. actually it's more funny if it's real.

i don't know about this one either

Iain 01.21.2007 08:14 PM

I think they might both be hoaxes. They both seem to be made with pretty much the same template.

pokkeherrie 01.21.2007 08:21 PM

yes, that's what made me suspicious too... but if it's a hoax, where would the creators have found so many everyday pictures of neo-nazis? i.e. not at some rally but just in their living room, with a swastika hanging on the wall.

for instance this girl has 128 online aryan friends
http://www.newsaxon.com/profile.php?...friends&id=917
there must be hundreds (thousands?) of profiles on there. that would make it too much of an effort to be a hoax me thinks.

SynthethicalY 01.21.2007 10:07 PM

That website for nazi's are funny.

Actually, I think less than half are over 30. That's the really weird thing about Sonic Youth - maybe it's the name - they continually seem to attract younger fans. At the show I was at in Portland this summer, there was an 11 year old in the crowd, and Thurston embarrassedly (and yes tongue in cheekily) apologized for his "potty mouth". I was blown away by how many high school fans they continue to have. Where they come from, I have no idea. Obviously they didn't hear it on the radio, so maybe it was their parents?

tesla69 01.22.2007 12:20 PM

I have personal experience with this, although I won't do a Murdochspace page myself, the last half of last year was weird because a bunch of people I hadn't been in touch with the since the 80's and 90's got in touch with me through mutual friends who are on myspace.
