haditha article in newsweek

This weeks Newsweek article on Haditha is chilling.

They claim that soldiers are strung out on drugs and pain killers, going on missions totally stoned. One of the wives of a soldier who killed people in haditha thinks those soldiers were on speed when they killed 24 people.

It makes me so angry.

Anyone who has studied history knows this happened in vietnam. Check out Apocalypse Now, the scene where Martin Sheen walks up to a group of black soldiers on a bridge in Vietnam. They are blasting Jimi Hendrix, and are shooting granades. The black soldiers are obviously stoned, they look dazed and completely vacant, and out of it. Martin Sheen asks the soldiers, who's in charge here? He asks again, WHO IS IN CHARGE HERE. The soldiers look like they didnt here him, and most likely didnt. Then one says "aint you". Seems like we have gotten to that point in Iraq. Its completely out of control. last week alone their were 4 SEPERATE massacres excluding Haditha which occured last November.

I am under the impression that these people these soldiers will come back just as they did during Vietnam, completely insane. We got what we asked for!

I can just picture these soldiers completely drugged out of their minds, they are scared kids. They dont know what the hell's going on.

My bet is the government is feeding them drugs just like they did in nam. Watch Jacobs Ladder anyone?

What I don't get is, the war seems out of control, yet the american homeland isnt up in flames as it was during Nam. Makes no sense.

I say set it off y'all!

Heres the article for those interested

Yeah, I pretty much figured as much, but since I had nothing solid to base it on, I didn't mention it the previous thread.

Who even read this? What is the American public doing about this? Besides sensationalizing it in the media and using it as a platform for their own creepy agendas to be furthered and capitalizing on it in their own interests? When I go forward, you go backwards, and somewhere we will meet. :P

It's one of those things that people will respond to like this: " Oh, my god thats horrible, that just isn't right." And then those people will go back to their daily lives and most won't give it a second thought.

That kind of thing sends shivers up my spine. I sure hope the Americans don't have to spread democracy in my country one day.

Well, that's the reason why I like to include these links in certain political posts/threads:

I think someone should send them a link to the Wikipedia Vietnam_war article. You know, summer reading.

However, I think e-mail is relatively obsolete in these matters. Written letters/postcards and phone calls are much more effective.
