Sun City Girls are Wacked and Wonderful!!!
I'm really getting into this band lately.
I know, they've been around for ages. I found this video on youtube and it's funny, scary and wacked out storytelling. No offence, but Tom Waits... eat your heart out. Sun City Girls - Cloaven Theatre Check out the amazing facial expressions. Don't watch this on drugs!!! Feel free to post other related vids and info. |
cool!

These guys inspire me, when it comes to my dress code. I wonder why? |
Yes, that one would look amazing on you. :)
I'd let truncated ride me like a wild donkey, for that mask on the right. |
Some more SCG goodness on youtube.

Weird. A toss up for my favorite band right now. Your actually the one who got me into them, Tokolosh. You posted Torch of the Mystics in the "What are you listening to" thread, I curiously downloaded it, and...wow.
I've listened to Torch of the Mystics and Valentines for Matahari and I am throughly impressed and quite entertained. |
the bishops and gocher are under-recognized geniuses of the american music collective. though their discography is daunting, don't be afraid to drag yr toe into the deep end.
|
my fave lp's:
1. torch of the mystics 2. 330.003 crossdressers from beyond the rig veda 3. horse cock phepner |
|
Libyan Dream, Grotto Of Miracles, the 1st self-titled, Live at Poon Village, and the singles are totally worth tracking down. see you in the poor house.
|
those majora singles are awesome! wish they'd release a compilation. and yeah, libyan dream is amazing, the best in carnival folklore series along with 98.6 is death, which is weird but somehow i like it.
|
love them.
strangely, for some unknown dude, the guy in this band is one of the most talented guitar players i've ever heard. |
they are a strange band in that all three of them are (and were, sadly) amazing musicians in their own right and also the more than the sum of their parts when they were scg.
check out caroliner too, ace band. |
the only problem with this band is that they feel that every note that they ever played deserved to be released, so you have to wade through many discs of ... uh ... "jamming" ... to get to the wonderful tunes. at their best, they remind me of a less-well-done secret chiefs 3. at their worst, they remind me of people who got crazy with the cheez whiz.
a good site for sun city girls reviews is markprindle.com.. |

by the way has anyone got that sun supreme lp that's somehow scg-related? |
damnit, i have been to like 6 cd storews and cant find shit by them. the guy at twisted village in boston told me today that they are completely out of print. but at the end of the month they ae going to reissue some of their albums.
i only know the first two albums, but i love em... |
i've heard all the "big" scg releases (dante, torch, crossdressers, etc), some of their more jammy-stuff, all of sir richard bishop's solo stuff, where should i go from here? Any hidden gems in the huge SCG catalogue?
oh and bumpity bump. |
i finnaly found a store that selld their cds (like a month ago) its called dynomite records in northhampton. mass. in back of thornes market.
they sold like 5-6 of their cds. i bought valentines for matahari at first i didnt like it much, cause it was basically them just jamming and making a shitload of noise. and the album has the worst mix i have ever heard (on most of the tracks) you can barely even hear charles' briliant drumming. but it definatly grew on me. other than this album i have only heard their first and second albums which are awesomec (s\t and grotto of miricales) aparently some of their albums are about to be re-released. anybody happen to have torch of the mystics that they can upload. i would be much obliged... |
