too much music!!!

do you ever feel like you just cant keep up with the amount of music coming out these days? i know that its great that there is loads of stuff but i never get the time to give it a good listen sometimes before something new is released and i have to get that as well.

sun city girl 01.23.2007 05:02 AM

yeah, i know the feeling...

Norma J 01.23.2007 05:03 AM

I feel that way about the music I own. I have something on and I'm enjoying it but think "Oh I could put this on too!". It's an insatiable need.

nicfit 01.23.2007 05:03 AM

It' s the drawback of having the possibility yo listen/read about/know/download many new bands thanks to the internet....
edit: OR it's the drawback of buying many cds ( a problem that I can't afford in these days :) )

compulsive diarrhea, jico 01.23.2007 05:08 AM

and loads off old music...

and dont having money to buy it...

and the fact that sometimes it's just premature ejaculation...

and you spent your girlfriend meal money on it...

bastards...

jon boy 01.23.2007 05:11 AM

when i read the wire and look at all the stuff that i would like to listen to it makes me kinda mad (red faced page curling in the shop mad) because i see so much and i really want to gve it a good listen.

i guess i have to be thrifty and put stuff into yes and no piles. not that i actually make lists bt you know what i mean. there is some stuff that i think can wait.

my ipod, now that it works is constantly being updated in the vein hope that i will be able to listen to 5% of the stuff i would like.

Iain 01.23.2007 05:48 AM

Indeed. I've bought hardly any cdrs in the last year and I do feel I'm missing tons of stuff. Haven't even bought anything from Volcanic Tongue for a while and I think I've only bought one cd so far this year (I know, the year is young) although I have bought quite a few records.

Rob Instigator 01.23.2007 10:28 AM

hell yeah i have felt that.
It is overwhelming. I first felt that when I was 12-14 and reading comic books and realizing that there was no way in hell I coul affoprd all teh comics I wantyed, much less every comic out there that seemed interesting.
the same goes for records.
there is so much great old stuff that I never got and so much new stuff
I go through my friends record collections and see so much stuff that makes me say , "Damn! I forgot about this band, or album!"

PAULYBEE2656 01.23.2007 11:12 AM

i on seemingly a regular basis, find myself gazing at my cds and looking to find something to lisen to and i end up walking out of the room thinking, i dont want to hear any of it! the internet is certainly a gateway drug.........

ALIEN ANAL 01.23.2007 12:48 PM

i do the same thing pauly, i look through my mp3 and cds, and just dont want that, i want something else..but i dont know what

PAULYBEE2656 01.23.2007 01:11 PM

i need another album that made me feel like the way i felt after i heard loveless or daydream nation or spiderland or ride the skies for the first time. yknow that goosepimpling "ive seen the light" kinda thing. the closest recently were the beirut album and possibly the vampire belt album but in no way close.

Silent Dan Speaks 01.23.2007 03:32 PM

I know the feeling, there is a lot of great music out there that I'll probably never hear.

whorefrost 01.23.2007 03:42 PM

sometimes feel like that...
then sometimes feel can't connect to anything...

those albums are few and far between pau.llybeee
I felt that way recently when I heard Parts & labor's STAY AFRAID
I felt that way when I heard Polvo's celebrate the new dark age for the first time a looong time ago

Glice 01.23.2007 03:45 PM

This last year I've stopped caring about the fact that there is more good music out there than I could feasibly hear in my lifetime. It really doesn't worry me. Someone will hear it, and that's good enough. I've been enjoying music, in some senses, in itself. Not that other people don't, but I've been at a peak of personal enjoyment, and I don't particularly want to change that any time soon. Also, my ears and critical faculties are getting better. I'd recommend it, but like I say, it's not necessarily the same for everyone.

Katy 01.23.2007 04:07 PM

It makes me roll my eyes when people (particularly musicians) say things like "there's no good music out there right now". It's ridiculous. If anything, yeah, there's too much. Way too much to keep up with if you like more than one kind of music.

But i suppose there's very rarely any good music "out there" if you're a lazy retard who only watches MTV and reads Rolling Stone.

EMMAh 01.23.2007 05:13 PM

I don't really listen to any new music.

PAULYBEE2656 01.23.2007 05:19 PM

i agree with katy, there is sooo much good music out there to be discovered but the effort has to be put in. lazy music fans = razorlight albums, you get my drift. thats how i believe anyway, that the libertines/babyshambles got soooo big. lazy music buyers. its edgy, but in a very safe easily digestable way. i remember about 15 years ago, the ""indie" bands that were getting the buzz and touring and even on tv were bands like sy, nirvana (ok they hit mainstream) sugar, belly, dinosaur, mudhoney, ride, all were at the razorlight/the feeling/babyshambles/hard fuckin fi level. now its too easy for kidz (and i dont mean that in a disrespectful or demeaning way) to get their music, its on tap basically. i had to go and read melody maker, nme, go out and search record shops and buy this shit so i could hear it. thats how i discovered bands like sebadoh (kurt wore a seb shirt all the time), trumans water (bought cuz i like the cover), slint, rodan, all of the stuff that 15 years later, im still raving about.........sorry, im geting off the point.....

its all in the effort. and about taking calculated risks AND TRUSTING YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT!! i mean if i was lazy i wouldnt find the magik markers back catalogue so fascinatingly good, or wait with baited breath to see if coughs have broke up. in many ways the internet is making life easy, but on the other side, its fucking great, if u know where to look......

couple of bands ive just recently discovered that i really like

help she cant swim
up c down c left c right c ABC+START
fujiya & miyagi
day for airstrikes
rollers/sparkers
the list is practically endless (thats a statement not a band, but makes a good band name dont you think)

......also- ive a lot to be grateful to this place for as ell. a lot of you guys have introduced me to a lot of awesome shit too.. FACT!!!!!

Richard Pryor on Fire 01.23.2007 05:19 PM

I actully have probelms finding new music that I get real excited about, I have my music that I listen to all the time, and it's hard to find something new to put in my mix. I for the most part like quirky, loud, angry, sarcastic, noisy shit. I think that's niche' has been filled for the most part for me.

jon boy 01.23.2007 05:21 PM

do you like trumans water richard?
