Whatever happened to GOOD sketch TV?
 

I haven't seen anything new that is anything close to the funniness of Monty Python or the Kids in the Hall for a long time.

Well, Kids In The Hall got cancelled.

That was the end of sketch tv.

What about Chapelle's Show?

And I think Sarah Silverman's new show is going to be a sketch show. That looks promising.

That's so true.

MAD TV is pretty good.

Its kind of like the death of the sitcom.

The formats have been done to death.

Chapelle's Show was good, but how long did that last?

It was also in a stupid format- 1/2 hour with a musical act?

jimmy fallon and that era of SNL put the nail in the coffin for sketch comedy. dave chappelle was brilliant but too racially charged to go much further. sarah silverman has nice titties but isn't funny.

little britan. i know its just taking bits from python, league of gentlemen and other shows and sticking them together with gay jokes but it is funny and will become a classic....

Have any of you seen the origional, British version of the sketch show? It's really funny. The American one was just lame

Mna, I can't believe you just said that. MadTV is one of the WORST sketch shows of all time. It's just barely ahead of Blue Collar TV and that crappy Python ripoff that was on Comedy Central last year that only lasted 3 weeks.

Monty Python, Kids in the Hall and 15 of the 30 years of SNL were genius.
Everything else sucks. It's the truth.

I dunno, it makes me laugh whenever I watch it. I'm not looking for high art when it comes to sketch comedy.
