Well,it seems like it is very easy to offend........these days.

My favourite form of oneupmanship is when I hear two old women trying to out-ill each other. It usually goes something like this:

Old woman 1: I think I'm getting a cold
Old woman 2: I thought I had a cold, but it was the flu
Old Woman 1: I had the flu. I was in bed for a fortnight.
Old woman 2: I had to go into hospital with my flu
Old woman 1: Mine was so bad they rushed me to Accident and Emergency.
Old woman 2: The doctorss were worried my flu would lead to something worse
Old woman 1: Mine did lead to something worse. I couldn't eat nor sleep for a month

And it always ends with the classic:

Old woman 2: My docotor says I should be dead. He says he doesn't know how I'm still alive.

haha.
