new york city rock clubs
what are some good rock clubs in new york city?
|
Cakeshop, Knitting Factory, Bowery Ballroom, thats just some, why do you ask?
|
there's also siberia, which i hear is closing, don hill's, snitch and the delancey. these are what i would consider "rock clubs."
|
red hook, in brooklyn.
|
also in brooklyn is north six (another one i hear that is closing) and duff's is a metal bar, though i don't know if bands play there or not. the sound can suck at warsaw, but i love it because it's a polish national church. cool venue. southpaw in park slope gets some good bands as well.
|
North Six is closing but only for renovations, and it will reopen under a new name in the fall, I think the management might be new as well. thats what I heard anyway.

i'm going to be in new york friday through monday |
I dont know whos playing this weekend but just for the fun factor I suggest Cakeshop, its got a coffee shop in front, a record store in the back and a bar in the basement, cover is usually $8. I went to Awesome Color there 2 weeks ago and had a blast. http://www.myspace.com/cakeshopnyc
And Im assuming youre going to webster hall friday... |

Otto's Shrunken Head on East 14th between Avenue A and B. It's a Tikki bar with no cover charge but you're likely to see the odd legend (Sylvain Sylvain, Bobby Steele, etc) do a spot on any given night. Drinks are cheap, staff are friendly. Trust me. You'll LOVE it. It's like the old CBGB's (showing my age here) before it gave way to hardcore and metal acts - and finally closed.

I sang Karaoke in a Bar in Brooklyn called "The R Bar."
I had a 40+ year old stick her tongue down my throat while I sang. I got off. So did my girlfriend at the time. |
