Help with Interesting Music Videos
So, I'm taking a film class, and I wanted to write a paper involving sound techniques in music videos. I'm not a huge music video buff, so I'm looking for some help. I still haven't come up with a specific idea, it might involve synchrony, or the inconsitencies in visuals and audios (i.e. a musician is playing a saxaphone during the guitar solo of the song) If you have some free time on your hands, would you be able to make some music video suggestions? I just need som concrete examples for my project. Any contributions will help. Thanks a lot. And this is the only thing I've got so far, and I like it:

I was walking along the street listening to Les Savy Fav today and i imagined a video to the song "We'll make a lover of you" being a load of people throwing baseballs at a load of cheap crockery on a bookshelf, all slowed down. I dont know why that came into my head but if you wanna use that then go for it.

any of the latter day tool clips from aenima on, but these are strictly from an aesthetic point of view there really isn't much in the way of sound techniques within the tropes of the music video because 99 percent of them are just songs with visuals, i would concentrate on more of the aesthetic. some clips do however use film techniques such a diagesic and non-diagesic sound. some of the foo fighters clips definately use that technique as do some of the beastie boys clips. you will get a far stronger essay if you write about the aesthetic of the clips and how or not these aesthetics work. spike jonze did a clip for fatboy slim that is from memory totally diagesic sound. |
