My stereo in RUINS
 

I have the 1986- 1992 box set, Tzomborgha and Burning Stone. Can you reccomend me some more? Muchas.

I've got the 1986-1992 set which is lovely, and also Vvresto, which I really enjoyed. So I recommend that!

i love pallaschtom, refusal fossil has a lot of variety and it's very good too.

also check out their albums with derek bailey and the knead one (ruins + keiji haino, different than their usual stuff)

it's pretty hard to find their stuff here in belgium, always had to wait for ages to get that stuff.... but ruins sound amazing indeed, worth the hassle :cool:

i recently rediscovered a band called 'behold... the arctopus' ..very technical instrumental metal, sometimes a bit annoying (vai,satriani, y'know) but some of their stuff sounds really impressive..so if you're band-hunting..check them out ;-)

i reviewed behold...the arctopus, and described them as crom tech meets dream theater, since they are very much dramatic and bombastic.

if you like that stuff arctopus, check out orthrelm, ocrilim and crom tech (if you haven't already), and also psyopus. oh, also recent stuff by flying luttenbachers.

porky: i also second the 1986-1992 comp.

hahhaah there is a video of 'behold..the arctopus' on youtube called "Worst Guitar Player Ever" and just the bassist and guitar player play a song called "Alcholocaust" and it is laughable. Horrible.

also i love the New Rap disc of him w/ Haino... on tzadik, pretty awesome.

incredible musicians.... my personal favourites are tzomvorgha, vvresto, burning stone, hydermasgroinigen, the86-92 thing, live in guang zhao, pallaschtom, knead (with keiji haino).. actually pretty much everything they have ever done or even thought about doing rocks my planet......

Oh, I got that from ebay a few days ago.. not hadda chance to listen to all of it yet but the drumming is indeed impressive... not so impressed with haino's contribution but... probably need to give it a few more spins...

the only song on new rap i liked is the second, the rest is a toss.

check out their other collab album instead, until the water grasps fire. that one is a religious experience.

as for what to get next, Pallaschtom was a disappointment.

haha, yeah, ruins rule, but..

behold the arctopus are insane and highly lovable though I can't take too much of 'em.

yeah i have that one, to me its good but weird... the tracks with the odd traditional instrumentation are interesting but to me don't hold up well with the others, its crazy how much this cd goes for now that its out of print i think i've seen copies sell for $40 on ebay which is crazy (heck I saw 2 copies of Fushitsusha's "Godl Blood" cd go for over $70 and i remember buying it for $10!).

New Rap does get kinda old, i listened to it alot when i first got it, now its abit too one dimensional in sound. I'm a huge Haino fan but admittedly his recordings are pretty hit n miss.

btw, i found on a blog another weird sort of compilation album which features Yoshida and all of his projects and a Ruins track from 1986??? i'll post the link later unless someone else finds it before me...

the reason i like until water grasps flame is because it's weird, it has it's own sense of developing as an album, that's just me though.

also check out sanhedolin, haino, yoshida and some other dude i always forget who is him.

i once did a two cd-r compilation with all the yoshida stuff i had, including bootlegs. interested to hear that other comp.

great thanks marcos. i have checked one track off their myspace and yeah its ok, id like to hear a full albums worth to make a more qualified opinion tho.

by the way, that unsane album is quite stunning isnt it. you bet me to that one again!!!
