Patti Smith / Twelve (Advance Promo CD5)
 

I Just have downloaded an Advance Promo CD5 of the forthcoming Twelve album. Songs included: Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) / Changing Of The Guards (Bob Dylan) / Helpless (Neil Young) / White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane).
I think this is the best thing i've heart in 2007, and for sure the best "SLTS" cover of all time.

It's out next week (April 16th) so not long to wait to hear it (if you haven't already). I've read one bad review so far. (But, really, fuck that. Like a reviewer could ever stop me buying something by Patti (or Iggy)..)

I was pretty happy to see a new Patti Smith album, but was soon disappointed when I realized that it was a covers record. Is it any good?

I don't really have a problem with a covers record, but I was expecting new material when I read "new Patti Smith album" in a magazine. I've actually come across a copy of Twelve, but I haven't listened to it yet.

(but... better this than "about a boy", was my knee-jerk reaction. heh.)
