sampler help
anyone have a yamaha SU10? if so can you give me some advice here please...?
try some questions, hard to help with just advice if i dont know what you need help with
edit: link to the manual here http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/...UCT,00.html # read this first then ask questions |
![]() I've got the Yamaha SU700. They say that its primarily used for the dance genre, but I'm making some pretty infantile noise with it. The sequencer section is great too. You can build and drop out tracks in real time while editing, filtering and tweaking other parameters. I'm having lots of fun with this baby at the moment! |
I have Yamaha RS7000
![]() And, I use it for the same purpose as Tokolosh uses his baby. It's got good internal sounds and powerful master effect section in it too. |
Yamaha users unite!! :)

yes sorry, a bit vague. i just wanted to see if anyone had one or similar first.
ok well i got one of ebay and it said all functioning correctly but i cant get the damn thing to play back so i am not sure its even recording. i d/l'd the manual and have followed it but no joy. so was wanting to know if i am being thicker than the offspring of george bubya and britney spears or if its broken and i have been done. |
if it is recording you will be able to see a visual of the waveform when you go into the editing part of thing. playback, could be your cable, or it could be a solder join internally which is fairly easy to fix if you can solder and or can follow a pcb layout. there are more things that can go wrong but they are the simplest of them. if a capacitor is fucked then that is a much harder job to fix but still completely fixable. how much did you pay for this unit??? i wouldn't have paid more than 75 au myself.
i paid £25 because it came without a power supply and manual. thanks for the advice.
so how can i tell whats up with it? i mean when you record something you just hit the pad and it plays it back right? it doesnt do anything and when i press play it says songs empty.
i think i need someone to walk me through it as if i where a child on its first day of school. |
ill have a look through the manual, sounds more like something you are doing than it not working
i would reccomend you follow the manual step by step because it looks very very basic, and i really cannot see how you can go wrong if you follow exactly what it says unless of course the input is fucked on the su10
write down step by step what you did, you may have missed something... |
yes i followed it exactly and it is pretty simple so i think its a broken sampler i hav just bought. fuck!
did you try both the line in and the mic to test the input, were you getting signal display when you set the gain? dont dtress these things can always be fixed unless the circuit board is dead but then it wouldnt start
the mic works for sure i tested it but i get no vloume level from it when i plug it in. should i be able to see that? have not tried the line in so i will get that tonight.
sounds like you haven't set any gain for the mic, this is on pg 32 of the manual and if you have a condenser then you wont get anything because the unit does not supply phantom power you can only use a dynamic mic straight in, if you have a condeser then you need a phantom power supply
my world implodes!
what is the verdict jon boy?
verdict is i need new mic's and a new brain. i did try a few of them and i knew that condensers wouldnt work so i need another one! aaaahhhhhh.
be cheaper to buy a small phantom power supply
can you reccomend any microphones?
tested it and it works! so all i need is a decent mic! |
