Matador at 15
 

If I didn't know better, and just heard this two disk (and one useless dvd) set, I'd have to conclude that Matador kinda sux.

Anyone buy it? Anyone then develop a case of buyer's remorse? Anyone fall in love?

assuming you mean the record label. Matador put some of the best records. Cat power - moon pix, unwound records, sleater kinney records - more great stuff!

I'm surprised that it would suck. I am found of that label.

Isn't this thing a couple years old? I really dug it when I heard it. Kits of really great stuff. That basically got me into a lot of really great stuff, directly or indirectly (Pavement, Belle & Sebastian, a lot of Matador's releases).

ive got the 10th anniversary 3 cd set. and it kinda sucks.........

those don't count as matador only puts that stuff out in europe, and besides, both those bands have split up anyway.



matador is rubbish these days, they haen't put out a good record by a new band since i don't know when (probably not since the 90s) although now they've signed times new viking things might change (although seeing as tnv have put out two albums on siltbreeze it's debatable as to whether they could be classed as a new band)

What are you talking about? Matador at 15 is great. The second cd kinda sucks, but that's only because it's a whole bunch of b-sides. The DVD has some cool videos on it too; I showed a few of them to my mom's guitar classes when I subbed for her once.

Everything Is Nice, Matador's 10th anniversary 3 CD compilation is really good too. The first CD is the greatest compilation ever put together by a record label.

Time New Viking is probably the worst professional band I have ever seen live. I would have liked them ok at a local bar. Their drummers ability to sing while play was impressive but besides that the guitar riffs were generic and the synth player seemed to be lacking in talent.
I might have just seen a bad show though.
