So i went to this inner city hair salon today......

..........and they were playing the BEST music, it was nothing like what i usually listen to, it was rap or hip hop or something and it was quite chilled out. There was a lovely atmosphere in there, i felt kinda out of place as i was the only white person in the whole place but it was warm and smelled of hair gel and the people were nice.

Anyway i feel stupid for not asking who the music was by but i did get a look at the CD cover, the front cover was silver clouds and dark blue sky behind it and it had the bands name in sliver lettering on the front but i couldn't read what it said. It looked like the bands name was about 4 or 5 letters.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Trasher02 05.01.2007 10:55 AM

What kind of music was it? Chilled out hip hop sounds kind of vague.

val-holla-ing 05.01.2007 11:01 AM

describe the music better. i could probably end up helping you out with this one.

also, if you like chilled out shit, check out sa-ra's album "the hollywood sessions". it's almost as if what tvotr would sound like if they did an LA RnB/hip-hop/soul album.

Toilet & Bowels 05.01.2007 11:17 AM

did it sound english or american?

try going to the urban/hiphop/dance or whatever section in a big hmv and seeing if you can see it there. i doubt they'd be playing anything particularly obscure in a hairdressers.

sonicl 05.01.2007 11:19 AM

Or ring/visit the hairdressers and ask them.

But this is all fairly unimportant when compared to the question: What did you have done to your hair?

screamingskull 05.01.2007 11:42 AM

sounded american, it was just rap over nice music, not very loud drum beats

nicfit 05.01.2007 11:49 AM

male/female vocalist or both?

screamingskull 05.01.2007 11:51 AM

male

screamingskull 05.01.2007 12:16 PM

it's not that i was intimidated to ask, i just didn't, it didn't occur to be until after how good it was. And i wasn't getting my hair cut i just popped in to get this great conditioner that only they seem to stock.

gmku 05.01.2007 12:19 PM

Call them, and just explain you liked what they were playing and want to know what it is.

screamingskull 05.01.2007 12:35 PM

doesn't the cd cover sound familiar to anyone?, i was hoping someone would already own it and recognize my description of the cover. I might call them.

there are so many albums with such a generic sounding cover, that pointing it out is a real tough one...especially since you can barely describe what it sounded like.

just call the joint up and ask.

sarramkrop 05.01.2007 05:17 PM

This one?

nicfit 05.01.2007 05:58 PM

no hotlinking from rateyourmusic, methinks. I've had some problems with that on the "what are youl istening to" thread too....
