So I spent 7 hours in the emergency unit due to a burst apendix!
What did you do today?
|
Ouch! So I guess that's the reason for:

Well you're posting here, so presumably all went well during the seven hours in the emergency unit? |
Yeah I gather it burst last week when the pain was excruciating. I got pumped full of all sorts of liquids through one of them needle things in your wrist, CT scan, X-rays, the works. Very uncomfortable day. I have to get it out in a few weeks.
|
Luckily, I've never had any problems with my appendix. *Touches wood*
It can kill you if you don't get operated when it bursts. Poison your whole system it will. Take it easy and get it sorted rapido. Good luck. |
Cheers.

hope all is going to be well norma j

like Tokolosh said, if it has already burst you could be looking at sepsis. you have to wait a few weeks???? you should have already been under the knife. why so long? |
jesus fuck! That sucks norma J!
Hope you are well. I hear the pain is just piercing and brutal |
and thats it they just sent you home???
when my friends apendix burst in the summer she had to go in for surgery that day and then spend 4 days in hospital on morphine not being allowed to eat anything! |
i woke up at ten a.m. one morning a few years ago with excrutiating abdominal pain, vomited approximately sixty times in four hours and demanded to be taken to the hospital. turns out my appendix had become dangerously enflamed and was rubbing against my small intestine (which is what made me vomit). they took it out at about midnight.
i find it alarming that they would wait to take yours out. mine hadn't even burst yet. |
I had my second annual colonoscopy a couple weeks ago.
The doc freaked out because my blood pressure was so high: 210 over 125. I'm now on hypertension meds and things are normalizing, so with any luck, I won't stroke out on y'all. |

Whats it like getting it out? How long does it take to heal? Rob: Yeah, the pain is piercing. Last week esepcially I was rolling around nearly in tears doing the "Why me"'s. I went in last week to the doctors due to having bad pain for about 2 months or more, and last week it was excruciating pain - realling terrible - and they sent me off to do a bunch of tests but also gave me some anti-biotics for an apparent bladder infection. So I started taking them and it looks as if they've cleaned up around the area where it's burst during the week and I've had no pain this week at all really. I got an ultra sound during the week and then yesterday I get a call from my doctor saying I needed to see her urgently (as she had just gotten the ultra-sound results in), and so I did, then she sent me to the emergency unit at the hospital. Why I am home now is because I am in no pain at the moment - last week they would have taken it out but they said considering I'm in no pain (which we gather is from the anti-biotics for the bladder infection), they'll give me anti-biotics and that'll clear the area up even more for when they operate in a few weeks, or it could just heal itself up. If I went to the hospital last week they would have operated. The doctors and nurses were amazed, so I guess I've had one of my 9 cat lives. |

uh, me, too... I take my blood pressure readings twice a day now...

it's an odd experience. i have only vague, fuzzy memories of them explaining what they were going to do, then the anasthesia took effect and the next thing i know, it's six hours later and my crotch is burning. they made three incisions: one just above my belly button, one on the side of my abdomen, and one just above my junk (it's exceedingly odd to wake up and realize that someone shaved your pubes without telling you). they kept me in the hospital for about a day to monitor my progress. peeing was painful for a few weeks afterward. the scars burned for about a week and then were just itchy for another couple weeks. they did the operation a week before school started and i still made it to the first day. what was REALLY odd was that the surgeon wore cowboy boots during the operation. but hey, that's Kansas for ya. |
wow, i hope yr ok baby.
