DJ? Don't talk to me about DJs. Things haven't been the same since Tony Blackburn got sacked from Radio 1 for having an intimate and rather inappropriate relationship with Arnold.

I still chuckle when I think about how hot under he collar some Radio 1 DJs got over The Smiths' Panic (Bruno Brookes springs to mind).

Didn't Dave Lee Travis get all arsey over something very trivial and quit? I'm going to have to check on Wikipedia, I won't be able to sleep tonight otherwise.

On 8 August 1993 DLT resigned on-air during his Sunday morning show, stating that he could not agree with changes that were being made to Radio 1. Dave told his audience that changes were afoot that he could not tolerate - "....and I really want to put the record straight at this point and I thought you ought to know - changes are being made here which go against my principles and I just cannot agree with them...".
I recall that one of the changes was the intoduction of DJs who had never seen Hermans Hermits play live. |
