The Sid James / Robin Askwith thread

Of all the titans of 60's and 70's TV and film, none stand higher than Sidney "Strewth!" James and Robin "Bryan Jones Haircut" Askwith. Which do you prefer?

And here they are - together at last!:

How dare you mention Sid James in the same breath as Robin "smug smile and grubby y-fronts" Askwith.

Ha ha, Melly strikes again :D It was probably the grubby Y-front action that attraced Pasolini to the Askwith (I think he "stars" in "Canterbury Tales").

I will admit to having been a huge fan of Bless This House at the time.

I'm sad enough to admit that I've just ordered Series 1 of "Bless This House" on DVD. Sad nostalgic git? Check.

And I remember Askwith's autobiography coming out a few years ago. We didn't sell a single copy in the bookshop I was working in.

Lately I've been having urges to watch old 70's sitcoms.

I'm really wanted to watch the Likely Lads the last week or so, and I'm resisting the temptation to buy them.

I can't imagine there'd be many takers for an autobiog by a former star of 70's sex comedies. I don't own said tome, by the way. Yet.

Can you watch old "Likely Lads" on You Tube? I haven't looked, myself. I did see an episode if "It Ain't Half Hot, Mum", which unsurprisingly was very pisspoor.
