Andrew WK appreciation thread!!!!!!!
Anyone else here love Andrew WK and his music?
![]() I genuinely love has music, not being ironic at all. |
I wore an Andrew WK shirt one day to be ironic, and no one thought I was kidding. I got such shit that day (at the time I was a guitar major and had a class with my fellow guitarists who are all die-hard metal fans). Now, a couple years later, I realize that Andrew WK kicks ass, and I can't find the shirt. I'm not kidding, I actually like his stuff now.

I put that song on a mix for someone once. |
I hope he is dead and that they buried his shit music with him.

I heard a couple singles, and they were fun. No idea on his "albums" or on him as a human being. |
did you see the MTV thing where he went to a womens only college, it was called Your Friend, Andrew WK or something ??? that was weird. i haven't heard enough by him to form an opinion.
|
I used to work with a guy who played Andrew WK all day long. I like it a lot, but there is such as thing as too much. Fond memories of it now though.

it's supposed to be noise based but with his rockin' tunes, at least that's the rumor. load has announced they'll release a record by him, not sure if it's this one. and half of obituary was his backing band. anyhoo, i love she is beautiful, other than that, all his songs seem to me like a monotonous mighty mighty bosstones without the ska (not to mention every song sounds the same, i'm not too fond of ac/dc either). |
that album is "close calls with brick walls". It was released in Asia last year but is yet to get a US/rest of the world release. It's not really noisey at all but he it's a little less one dimensional than the first two.
You can find it on soulseek. I think i'm going to fork out the $$$ for the double LP when it's out though. |
this should have been a very short thread.

Attempts were made.
There is no way I can get into this music on any level. I guess I'm not Goodtime Joe over here. The new album is not "noisy" in the slightest to these ears. I cannot see the appeal, at least not to people who haven't held a torch for Quiet Riot for the last 20 years. |
![]() ![]() ![]() When it's time to party we will party hard!!! I have the cd and once one of my friends invited us over for a birthday party- i brough the disc but decided not whip it out-- it was a party of his family mostly and they weren't ready for the intense melt-down of party and post-party that andrew wk would've ultimately exploded over everyone's face like a giant gism canon of dirty white tee-shirts and sweaty rage aimed in the direction of boundless and joyful partying. |
i was just sharing the rumors i had heard.
didn't know it was the same album and that it wasn't noisy. |
