sooo, do you think steve lets the guitar/bass players in sonic youth use his drum sticks to abuse their guitars; or does he smack their hands with a deftly aimed and lightning fast hit of his mightly rods should they reach for his pile, then exclaim:

"Go get your own damn sticks fool, I won't sit idley by while my tools are blemished by your careless and vigorous slashing. Would you let me chew up your guitar necks for the sake of some experimental drum work? I think not. Now get yourself down to the music store and buy your own!"

i'm pretty sure thats how it goes down...

i have seen pix where the drumstick thurston is using has steve shelley's name on the side of it.
