Newcastle (the beer)
I decided to finish off a sixer of this stuff (alone - at home - on a friday night - while using a message board - yada yada yada) and I'd have to say it's quite to my liking. I've been drinking American beer water since I was in diapers and have always made it a point to avoid English beers (resulting from a rather severe case of Anglophobia). I must say, however, that this stuff is really very good. Smooth and tasty. Not too chocolatey. Properly brown. Num num.
I fear it's time to curtail my xenophobia a tad and let foreign beers into my llife. Ay, my mother will be so disappointed. Yours, Hat & Beard ![]() |
Tastes like shit. Only northeners with taste buds numbed by a diet of faggots and peas, like it in the UK.

Which explains why I like it. Cheers! |
Good, not great. I'll have it occasionally if it's on tap but I'd rarely grab a six pack.
who eats faggors and peas anymore ild man?

H'oway man. Gan y'sen a decen fookin' beyar liyk. Fookin' coont.
Which is to say, Newkie B is alright, but I'd only have it in the absence of a proper ale on tap. It is, however, eminently more drinkable than the glut of domestic lagers, be they European or (shudder) American. |
yes i am still drunk.
excellent, one more off the lager wagon
I am sooooooooooo drunk and unemployed and awake @ 6:58am and interneting. Please kill me. Please.
its been happening a lot recently that i wake up still drunk. three or four times this week already.
i was in the toon, as they say last week. went to some place called the free trade.
it does look rough from the outside but it was very nice inside and a really good view of the river. and yes it does have a free duke-box which was both splendid and tremendous.
just visiting a freind for his birthday and housewarming party. south gosforth he lives in which seemed very nice.
oh i have been there a few times, nice beach and good fish n chips as i remember but i have not been there since i was a kid. i will endeavour to go there again one day.
i like a bottle of brown,
i wont drink lager, absolute piss water for southeners who cant drink, i mostly drink guiness and other stouts but happily enjoy most ales, mceuans, bishops finger, john smiths, and so on, newcastle brown was a favourite of mine for ages but it does fuck up your head abit (i cant remember the ins and outs of this), theres even a newcastle brown ale ward in st. lukes which is middlesbrough mental hosipital for the mentally retarded, |
How funny I picked up a sixer yesterday it was great & I had the last one this morning. I can't hate on this brew it's far better Budweiser or any other domestic beer for that matter.
I prefer a lighter, more refreshing ale. Golden Glory is very nice.
Ironically i never actualy tasted it when i was living in the Toon (and it was still being brewed there). But have since, and a night spent on it gave me a monster hangover.
i love newkie brown, it is a fine fine ale. honestly i don't see how anyone can drink any american beer, it is like cordial, nothing like a good ale. these are my locals
