There are similar scenes in Rushmore and Royal Tennenbaums where something is said between two characters but you don't know what it is.

What I can't decide in Lost in Translation is whether they have sex or not.

they dont. I just love it how short their little thing is, it would completely ruin the movie if they live happily ever after.

It is two people at two different ends of their lives seeing in each other the same feelings of loneliness and disjunction with the world around them.
they are together out of necessity and they leave each other out of necessity.

After watching seasons 1, 2, 3 and a few episodes of season 4 of Entourage i'd guess that too.

The first few times I watched it, the thought of them having sex didn't cross my mind. But recently when I've watched it, after seeing a feature on the DVD where Bill Murray talks about the movie, I got a different perspective that they did.

What a great movie. It's one of those thing when you can't have what you want. Both of them hate their marrige's & can't help but find something in each other.

one of the worst films i've ever seen. didn't the same person direct marie antoinette and the virgin suicides? what a horrible, horrible director.

ha, your unusual hatred of women is evident, and biasing, but marie antoinette was indeed crap. virgin suicides was good and lost in translation was one of the best films of that year, however.
