I need a title for my film!
Hey guys,
I'm in the midst of editing my first real film which is a documentary on 4 belgian bands: Ignatz Bear Bones, Lay Low Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat Silvester Anfang It will premiere on the first of December at a festival I will reveal soon. The programming of that festival needs to be finished next week. So now they have asked me for a title of the film due the end of next week to include in the program. So if anyone has any ideas for a great title, please PM me or post in this thread. The film kinda touches on the new weird folk / drone and experimental scene in the form of the four bands mentioned above. As you might have guessed I'm not that keen on hypes/names and boxing music into categories, so any clever title that makes chop chop of those hypes names would be cool. I also asked the members of all bands to come up with any titles. Please only serious responses, the person of the title being used will be credited in the film credits. thx - Jef |
Probably a bit cliched, but:
High (something) in the Low Lands? |

I meant destroying hyped names like new weird folk but in a clever way. Hey sonicl: Lowlands is also this festival in Holland, so mmm. |
A Blast of Beauty.
or Ever Blasting Beauty!:D Fits the theme atleast... music. I don't know. Would have to see the film. |
There was also this documentary on Vashti Bunyan, CocoRosie called 'the eternal children' but I always found that sappy.

i like chop chop. go with that and good luck with the film.

I know it's so difficult to come up with a title that catches it. Especially when it's not finished or nobody has seen it. |
Hey, that's a nice title, Nefeli - It paints a cool mental picture. I like that.
|
'Trees inside the academy', no seriously:
'Trees outside the academy': I always thought with trees, they grow old - like thurston is aging. Outside the academy: like not being academic in music but standing outside of that. It's still an awesome title which triggers so many things for me. |
Ew, I hate pretentious/artsy film names. I'd rather go with corny to kill the hype like Brussels' Sprouts but that would only make sense on an international level.
But if you want genre-chopping; Old Boring Folk Yeah, that's all I got. |
Belle Jams. (sounds like belgian ha ha ha). No, actually this is a serious reply.

speaking of trees........
how about "chop in half to count the rings" |
or get drunk by cappillary action...........
lookin forward to seeing the film jef, you gonna dvd it as well? |

First of all getting it done to screen. WHen the screenings go well mabey, dealing with labels is to early yet. I'm halfway through the movie roughly edited, leaving for Portugal on Friday and a week later will be devestatingly busy schedule, seen I still have to shoot a big part of it. |
The title has been chosen. More info soon, probably when I get back from Portugal.

I suppose I should delete this Magnitizdat ...the Russian word for making DIY or bootleg recordings I also (without the apostrophe) like "Brussels Sprouts," or at least that's the best one yet. I suppose if you felt you had to add the apostrophe, you could place it after the 's' though: "Brussels' Sprouts." I knew these guys that played in a now-defunct band called Fuzzy Sprouts. So there's another one, "Fuzzy Sprouts." |
Ha ha, wayward apostrophe. Edit time!
