I've never really seen what is so scary about them.

oooh i hate clowns! i don't know why they are scary they just are. i think it's cause nothing is supposed to be that happy and when you see something like that you don't know how to react.

Its the painted on smile, which implies insincerity, and so far back since I don't know when thier is this idea that behind the smile every clown is really crying inside, and of course John Wayne Gacy and IT just totally took it to a whole nother level of scariness.

My mom was a clown. Back in the day.

I'm scared shitless of clowns...maybe its the overexposure to the film/book entitled "it" as a youngin', or maybe the John Wayne Gacey undertone brings oput the fear. Not sure, but whatever it is I hate clowns.

When "It" was turned into a movie, they had that as the book cover, and even that freaked me out a little bit.

hah. clowns are actually funny people. i once gave a ride to one who was hitchhiking. he was a hilarious bastard. we stopped at a light next to a car with a hot mom & a kid in the back seat. the kid waved behind his window & the clown waved back smiling & saying "hi kid, i'm your daddy's replacement"-- ha ha ha -- so now i wonder what clowns think at birthday parties.

i woulnd't mind having some beers with a clown. you gotta be part insane to work that job.

Hahaa wait a minute. You picked up a hitchhiking clown? I would never pick up a hitchhiker period, let alone one dressed up like a clown. So why was he hitchhiking anyway? Did his incredibly small car (with about 30 other clowns in it) break down? Thats a great story man.

And you're right you've got to be part insane to be a clown, or in John Wayne Gayce's case, COMPLETELY INSANE.
