Is there anything good to do in London tomorrow?
I'm thinking about going into London during the day tomorrow (Saturday 22nd), but I don't really know what I might do once I'm there. Has anyone got any suggestions? I want to do something different to just browsing in the record shops, which is what I usually end up doing.
NB - It has to be during the day, not in the evening. |
i'm not that clued up about what's going on at the moment, sorry.

Check out my friend and occasional collaborator's photography exhibition in East Dulwich. It opened earlier this week and it's worth seeing.
More info on his website: http://www.markfwilkinson.com/index_f.htm |
just sound 323 if you willing to take the trek. remember its highgate!
And don't forget the excellent Second Layer store in the basement of Sound 323. I went there last weekend and it's a veritable treasure trove of goodness...
thats true as well and i have sonicl to thank for showing me the light.
the huge georg baselitz reprospective is opening tomorrow at the royal academy - it looks like it will be quite exciting if you are into him. other than that, i can only reiterate by recommending sound 323 and the new second layer shop in the basement.
After all that, I'm sleepy, and not in the right frame of mind for London. I'm going to go to Woking instead, and pay a visit to my mate Sean, who manages a bookshop there.
Thanks for the input though. |
I'm going to Sound 323 in a bit. I haven't checked the Second Layer out yet.
Second Layer? It's good. Very nice guys who run it too.
I'm staying at my boyfriend's and he lives near Highgate so it seems like the right day to do it, and I also want to go on a record-buying spree. It does sound like it's run by decent people. I'm looking forward to it.

u got a pic of your bf porky?
Yes, why?
just wanted to see is all
but if you dont want to post it on the net then thats cool :) |
I personally think that's a bit of a lame thing to do, to be perfectly honest with you. Is there a limit that you put on how much of your private life is out there on the internet? There should be. Besides, even though he likes some Sonic Youth songs, he thinks that their fans are musos, including myself.
well thats fair enough
of course there is a limit but there are just certain things to me that arnt a big deal, because anything i say could be a lie anyway, same goes for others. I dont see whats there to lose from saying things or showing people something about my life, but i really do understand what you are saying and its all good. |
Indeed. That's why I put a limit to what I post about my personal life on here or on other forums. It's fine if someone does it, I don't really care. But when someone tells you all their life in what is basically a public arena inhabited by anonymous strangers, it does strike me as a case of insecurity, a little bit. As I said, it is still ok with me if people do it, but it's not for me.
how do u see it as insecurity?
Because you come across as you are not able to channel deeply personal information into more 'tortuous' things, like talking with a fellow human being. The anonymity of this medium is great in that it cuts out the sound of a conversation and the body language altogether, and that's pretty good if you're just into chit chat. But chit chat it remains, at least for myself.
