ELECTRA PRESENTS KIM GORDON AT ZOO ART FAIR
Seven unique watercolour portraits by music icon and artist Kim Gordon, presented at Zoo Art Fair by Electra

ZOO Art Fair, 12 - 15 October 2007
Royal Academy of Arts
6 Burlington Gardens, London W1S 3EX
12th - 15th October 2007

The iconic Kim Gordon has created a collection of seven brand new watercolours, each unique and signed by the artist, which offer dreamy, abstract interpretations of audience members, recalled from Gordon's experiences during her long career as an artist and musician. Small in scale and with a spirit like presence, painted on slightly translucent paper, each watercolour features Gordon's signature glitter paint, a recurring material used in many of her recent paintings and installations. The works will be presented by the London based contemporary art agency ELECTRA at ZOO Art Fair 2007.

A significant figure in avant-garde music and one of the founders of Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon has worked as a visual artist since the early 80s. Her practice spans installation, drawing, painting and a wide range of collaborative projects. She has worked closely with the artist Jutta Koether on numerous occasions. Recent shows include the installation Reverse Karaoke (also with ELECTRA), which was first shown at South London Gallery as part of the Her Noise exhibition, and subsequently toured to France, Italy and Austria. Another project is the recent Kim Gordon & Jutta Koether solo exhibition Dead Already at Reena Spaulings Fine Art in New York in April 2007, which also included a number of performance events.

ELECTRA are the sole UK agents for Kim Gordon's visual work, and have made numerous collaborations with the artist. Most recently, they produced Perfect Partner, a cross-artform collaboration with Kim Gordon, Tony Oursler and Phil Morrison, which premiered at the Barbican in 2005, before touring Europe.

ZOO Art Fair: ELECTRA will host a stand at ZOO Art Fair. They can be found at Booth A2 on the Ground Floor of the exhibition space. The stand will also feature examples of previous projects and exhibitions devised and curated by ELECTRA, a selection of new sketches by Kim Gordon, and the 'making of' documentary DVD for Her Noise.

I knew you will be happy sonicl. Now you can try to impress you girlfriend by telling her you are interested in art and not just in record shopping every weekend. :)

You had me uncertain for a moment, whether I'd flipped the pics, or something stupid like that, but, no, I've checked the pics on the handout that the gallery provided, and the pics are exactly the same as the originals. So, it appears that, yeah, on her paintings, Kim does sign her name backwards.
