David Benioff Penning Kurt Cobain Feature

Universal Pictures has set David Benioff to write an untitled drama about the life of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, reports Variety.

The studio has acquired rights to "Heavier Than Heaven," a Cobain biography written by Charles Cross.

The film is a co-production between Working Title and Reveille Motion Pictures. Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Ben Silverman and Graham Larson will produce. Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, will executive produce with Howard Weitzman.

Benioff most recently scripted The Kite Runner as well as the upcoming Gavin Hood-directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Brothers, the Jim Sheridan-directed drama.

i was really wanting linklater to direct the movie, who ever does it i hope they capture the look and feel of the 80s/90s.

i'm pretty sure if courtney is involved in it it's gonna be biased...... and shit too, probably. although i would still watch it.

Yeah. Totally pointless exercise. Cobain's dirty laundry has already been well and truely displayed to the public, what is there it can tell us that we don't already know?

Cobain is inimitable. They'd better pay tribute.

They'll be too scared not to. They know that if they don't tell the story the way that the Church of St Cobain wants to hear it, they'll probably wake up the next morning with a horse's head on the neighbouring pillow.
