Thanks a lot!!!
|
THANKS CHRIS!
Q: can we post corrections in this thread instead of mailing you? well, about the http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/cc/070607.html Ferrara gig... other performers : my cat is an alien (they also opened in torino, methinks). sadly SY did not play schizophrenia as an encore in Ferrara :( audience recording exists :D At the Rome gig the day after, Zu opened for SY. audience recordings exist for each of the italian shows, now that I think about it... THANKS AGAIN. we love you. |
a blast!

08/08/06 - Toronto, ON @ Kool Haus
There was one opener, The Go! Team I'm still hoping someone will be like, "Hey! I recorded this!!!" But I haven't had any luck at all... *Not that this is new news... I just noticed that there is a ? for the Other Performers... |
can someone tell chris to ask the band who opened for them in mexico city and guadalajara this year so he can update those pages?

I wish too... hopefully one day a recording of that show circulates. It's still one of the best I've ever been to. |
06/18/07 -- St Petersburg, Russia @ Manezh Kadetskogo Korpusa
opener: Tequilajazzz 06/19/07 -- Moscow, Russia @ B1 Maximum openers: Moi Rakety Vverh & Nochnoi Prospekt |
07/03/07 Istres, France Le Palio
Openers: Elista and Kayser Chiefs |
site used to list the side projects which was very useful.
|
side projects are still there, just not updated since eeehhh around the time SY.com started putting all of them on their calendar.
i gotta be honest, i don't give a shit about opening bands. i really hate to say it, because i do aim to document most aspects of the live shows, so let me rephrase... the opening band is probably the least important bit of data for me to capture. (and yes, everyneurotic, i understand your reference, and will list you if you give me the info!) i get so many emails that are just one show's opening bands, and it becomes a bit of a chore to keep them updated, considering all of the other info... that said, maybe i'm just being lazy. who, me? ah shit, i just realized i forgot to update the song statistics. somebody should just put me to sleep. |
sorry chris, it's just that i told you on separate occasions, but yeah, there's more important stuff to be updated than opening bands.
by the way, i meant to post "bands" as it wasn't the same one on each city. |
ah then i'm sure i have it noted somewhere.. this last update was just 2007 sets, so they were up...

Hi
I've not found a proper thread, so, it seems this one could be OK. I sent it a while a go through the sonicyouth's concert chronology e-mail link but, just in case it's got lost, I send it here, too. I add some details or modifications to a variety of spanish gigs, where I've been: 07/12/93 - Barcelona, Spain @ Zeleste II It was not at Zeleste II (small venue), but Zeleste I (the big one). The other band was "El Inquilino Comunista", from Getxo, near Bilbao, Basque country (Spain). It's said Sonic Youth played their first record in the tour bus, and they liked it so much that Thurston asked to get them to open the SY's spanish gigs. I think that Thurston wore an Inquilino t-shirt during the gig. 09/09/95 - Barcelona, Spain @ Festival The name of the "Festival", is "Pop Festival", a one-day festival. Tricky name because "pop" means "Octopus" in the catalan language. The pet of the festival was an octopus, of course. It was not in Barcelona, but in Badalona (a city next to Barcelona). The venue was the park of Can Solei (open air). The neighbours complained so much because of the noise, that the "Pop Festival" could never be repeated... 03/28/96 - Barcelona, Spain @ Zeleste Other bands were Unwound (I don't remember them, but maybe I was late...), and Beck (alone, acoustic guitar). 06/14/01 - Barcelona, Spain @ Sónar Festival As a curiosity, Thurston had fast skills to avoid a flying beer glass that flied to his head in a perfect parabollic trajectory (someone thought they were going to play rock that night....but not). 05/28/05 - Barcelona, Spain @ Primavera Festival Steve played with Christina Rosenvinge too. And there was a Text of Light gig. 04/18/10 -- Barcelona, Spain @ Razzmatazz Opening band was "Bčstia Ferida", a free-noise-jazz from Barcelona, that includes Mark Cunningham (who lives in Barcelona since the nineties). A very limited edition (20 units) arty poster was sold here, only. There a lot of performers in the festivals, but I suppose they're not of interest, since they were'nt "proper" opening gigs. Best regards |

I have to disagree, because sometimes knowing the opening band could be a good starting point to find infos about a show. |
that's an interesting point and honestly i'm surprised my laziness won out over my OCD on this issue, but re-reading what i wrote THREE years ago i tend to still agree. i do add em whenever people send em, so i am trying...

Chris, this show isn't listed.

What will happen to the Concert Chronology pages if this site does get shut down? will it all be lost including the Photos, Videos, Gearography, Discography, Zines and MP3 pages?
That's like my bible... |
Let's make a better site for it! yeeeh!
I know I'd help. I really would. Graphics things and stuff. Wake me up when the time comes. |
