Help with recording guitar
 

I'm recording a dance track now with guitar in it and I just can't get it to sound "there". I'm using a decent mic, a marshall valvestate amp and a Fender Telecaster, but I just can't get it to sound as if it is part of the song. It is at a high volume and should fit into the mix, but it just sounds like background noise. Please help as this is incredibly frustrating.
