edit - i dont think that piracy is really going to destroy the film or music industry. as much as i want this to happen i doubt very much that there will be as much of an impact as what the telly says.

Piracy existed long before there were torrent sites. I remember getting VHS copies of the latest blockbusters when I worked at a local video shop in the 80's. Also copied loads of vinyl records onto tape for my walkman.
