This is one of those albums that, the first time you hear it, as every song passes by, you're saying to yourself, "Wow, this album is a fucking classic." Lumped in as a punk band, they didn't really fit in with that, as -- while the album is energetic, high-speed, youthful and "D.I.Y." -- the songs also are lengthy and full of bizarre, sometimes surfy riffs with very clear-stated vocals. Amazing anthems. Clear and direct but not overindulgent at all, every song feels like it's just as long as it needs to be. Also, the songs are really fun to play on guitar.

A classic. Endlessly inspirational.

Zak Sally (former bassist for Low) is currently fronting a band called TOGPTFFSOTWOTERATSYOA with former members of Cows and Steel Pole Bathtub.
It stands for "Three Old Guys Play The First Five Songs Off The Wipers' Over The Edge Record And The Song Youth Of America."
It's pretty great.
This is a damn fine LP. And you're in the wrong section, but hey.

I love the Cows, Low, and Steel Pole... I always heard Wipers in Steel Pole (though I mainly hear Wipers in the Hot Snakes; every fucking riff!)..

yeah amazing album, i love the wipers! have you heard the melvins version of youth of america, it's pretty cool.
reminds me of atp last year, i was wearing my wipers t-shirt when i bumped into king buzzo on the stairs after melvins had played. he said "cool shirt" or something while i stood there being an embarrassing fanboy, "you guys were great, man" etc..

This album gives me CHILLS. So good!

I played "Over the Edge" with a shitty band I played in a few years ago at a party. I totally shitfucked the guitar solo, and the vocals were atrocious. I still am haunted by how bad I butchered one of my favorite bands' best songs. This is my favorite Wipers record.

This is a fantastic record by a band that I love dearly. I went through a week recently of listening to ''Land Of The Lost'' so many times I lost count. I posted that on a facebook status and Ryan Martin of Dais Records commented that on the same week he was doing the same with ''Youth of America'', so we decided to swap albums. Honestly, I could spend all day, every day listening to their records. I'll put it on now.

A 20 year old girl I knew died unexpectedly today, that's why I've had so young in my head all day..
