Strange influences
 

This is a short part of a song from "Indochine" a french pop band... this song was released in 1993... does it remind you something ?
I don't think that they inspired sonic youth... it's just a coincidence I think but it's funny !! no ?

It sounds like a similar / the same? progression.

so? the band Factrix has a song that sounds uncanilly similar to Protect Me You. If Sonic Youth were influenced by anybody they would say so.

That's kind of cool! It took me a couple plays to place it, but it was totally there: "dah-nah-dah-nah dah dah-nah diamond sea..."

So ? nothing ! this is not a trial, just a funny similarity...
But that band "indochine" is always accused in France to be fake, to just copy other bands, but for this song it is not possible or, if so, they are prophets !

the bass in "sieve fisted find" reminds me of kool thing so much.. in the "please let me get my hands on ittttttttt"... oh well.

I've listened so many times to that song trying to get what you mean Adam, but it's nothing major IMO.

Anyway, Indochine are shit.

it's just the "dun dun dun dun dun dun dunnnnnnnn" thing. no biggy. it just always makes me go "hey!"
