Songs for a funeral.
I'm doing a project on my life and I can't think of what songs I want to play at my funeral. Help a brother out.
|
The two that I can kind of think of:
For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fathers in Ypsilanti Needle in the Hay |
which kind of "emotions" are you going for?
I'd say all we ever wanted was everything - Bauhaus First Breath after Coma - Eits Tinsel and Foil - Paik |
Work backwards. What kind of emotions do you want to express at your funeral? What songs give off that feeling?
|
The funeral party - The Cure
|
well at my funeral i want (in this order):
damien jurado - fuel nick cave - people ain't no good sonic youth - karen koltrane |
I don't really know what emotions. I really like the Bauhaus idea. Thanks, guys.
|
Stooges - Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell
Roll Out The Barrel Muppet Show theme |
In all seriousness though, something by La Monte Young would be good, as would "Dreamweapon" by Spacemen 3 (my personal choice for my personal funeral). Both of these embody the concept of Eternal Music, which is a beautiful counterpart to the eternity one enters upon death.

oh yeah, and rue st vincent by yves montand. i love that song.
|
My death performed by David Bowie
|
going underground - the jam
hahaha sorry that was tasteless. |
Which is why I love you, tanky.
Do you not use msn anymore? |
nope
|
I want Grounded by Pavement played at my funeral.

Something tells me Fillmore Jive would be way better. "I need to sleep, why won't you let me!?" as the coffin is lowered down.. |
