Panda Bear but no Animal Collective...?
|
Thats a more intrigueing list than the pitchfork one, good to see they ranked the Von Sudenfed album in the top 10 because its a belter and deserves to be up there with the best Fall albums.
But Battles again... ugh. |
I think the new burial is pretty weak.
some nice names in there. |
The Wire's end of the year lists get more and more predictable.

But it's nice to see Von Sudenfed in there |
Corsano made the list twice...
|
I'm disappointed that Paul Metzger's "Deliverance" is not on this list.
Some good stuff up there, but M.I.A.? Seeing that album all over these year-end lists is starting to bug me. |
I'm happy to see James Blackshaw in there, i love that record. Where's Growing's 'Vision Swim'? I havent seen it in one 'end of year' list yet, i thought at least The Wire would include it.

I was left feeling really disappointed when I listened to ''Deliverance''. I was expecting more, but it isn't anything that grabbed me and made me sit down and listen to it. |
I still need to hear that Wyatt album.
|
at least Battles and MIA are somewhat defendable [Battles being that its an amazing album]... what about LCD??? that shits on SPin and RS's Top 10 too... damn
|
lame list. Bjork's worst alblum ever made it? Wire is supposed to represent the more interesting side of underground music, and besides a few great ones on there, its mostly the same shit as all the other best of lists...
|
i am glad 'cryptograms' has been gettin some love though. despite deerhunter being pitchfork darlings, i think they are a very interesting band. i love their sound, very eerie vocals with ambient drones and indie guitars. i think they are surely one of the better "indie rock"bandsto have come out in quite some time.

Whatever. |
Why do people feel the need to constantly say "animal collective" in any way shape or form when these lists come up? Look, that album's not that good, we've all accepted that the solo albums by the respective members were better, and I clap for Wire for not putting them on this list: they'll be voted # 1 in teen sweethearts magazine, blender, spin, and all the other bullshit you idiots read, so stop going "WHOA WHEERE'S ANIMNAL COLELCLTIVE?"
Anyway, I mostly disagree with this list, but kudos to them for making a list that almost seems honest in a way. Not to mention they're the only magazine that will probably highlight the REAL best work of the year (33 Rhys Chatham - The Crimson Grail). Don't really have anything to say, except.. what's with the LCD Soundsystem thing? I mean, really? Why do people who are usually intelligent about music pretend that shit's good? |
Strawberry Jam is bloody good man
edit: Sonicpark, whats your list? seeing as you despise this and the pitchfork one? edit 2: And yeah, LCD soundsystem makes no sense at all to me; dancy music to dance to when you're out and about, but to actually LISTEN to??? na na nah |
I don't despise this list at all, man. It's a good list, I don't necassarily agree with a lot of the picks, but all in all it's the best list I've seen yet (besides Rock and Rolla's). I posted my list on the paulybee thread, but I added/took away a few things, simply because I forgot a few albums I liked a lot came out in 2007..

I have no idea what most of these albums are, but what is this... The Terminals (as in "the great as fuck band from new zealand whom I thought were gone long time ago") have released an album this year? |
