Isn't this one of the most beautiful sy songs? When i listen to it, it just sounds like water dripping and stuff... it's pretty.

What's the question? Prettiest? "Cotton Crown" maybe. I don't know. Way too hard. I've always described SY's sound as 'pretty noise.'

I don't get all the supra-love around The Diamond Sea. DON'T MISREAD, there's no way I said it wasn't great, I think this song is absolutely genius and beautiful. But then, best Sonic Youth track? I don't think so. NYC Ghosts & Flowers, Trilogy, Society Is A Hole, or, even on the Washing Machine album, Becuz or Skip Tracer are even better in my opinion.
But well, The Diamond Sea is still great. It's just not my favorite Sonic Youth track

I also think there are better songs, but at the same time I think it was one of those defining songs in their career. One of the benchmarks that will be remembered. It's a great song... plus the version on THE DESTROYED ROOM is an experience.

Yeah, the 25-minute version is even better than the Washing Machine version. When I first heard the long version, I felt just like if the track was really complete this time.

the diamond sea will be played at my funeral..... i get carted out at around 15 minutes into it, or 20 if i use the alternate version! beautiful song!

It's never been one of my favorites. Probably in my top 70%, as Sonic Youth songs go. Of course, that means it's a great song and better than 90% of everything else out there.

Diamond Sea is my favourite SY song.
