Mildred Pierce

I'm watching the 1945 film "Mildred Pierce" w/ Joan Crawford. I didn't know there was a film called Mildred Pierce. Well, the only reason I'm watching is because of SY.

I know, I'm a weirdo.

I saw it in HMV t'other day. I thought about stealing it but I couldn't be arsed.

I saw the last few minutes of it on TCM, & it seemed like an interestuing storyline. & it looks like a film that I could sit down & enjoy.
& there's not too many of those films.

it's a great movie, i saw it over xmas last year.

Yeah, I'm starting to regret that I missed the beginning of the film. When I was watching the ending, I was consumed by what was happening in the movie. So, that's one attribute a film has to have to be a good film.

I've read so many books because of teh yoof. I have yet to see Mildred, though.

I'll have to watch the rest of this movie, but from what I saw, I would definately suggest this film.

schizophrenicroom 05.14.2006 09:57 AM

Ooh, cool. It sounds interesting.

It's really more or less a love story, but w/ a weird twist added to the plot.

Anyway, what films has everyone else been watching recently?

screamingskull 05.14.2006 10:08 AM

i watched a film last night, i think its called the hunted, set in portland, it was pretty crappy, but it had some nice footage of portland and the woods of oregon.

Alex's Trip 05.14.2006 10:08 AM

The book was good. McCain is a pretty good author. He wrote Double Indemnity too. I haven't seen either of those movies though.

h8kurdt 05.14.2006 10:17 AM

I watched The mighty wind, now that is freakin funny. I think i'll be watchin teh abyss tonight but i'm not sure as i've got some english coursework to do.

marleypumpkin 05.14.2006 10:17 AM

I'll have to check out the book Alex's Trip. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, maybe it was the director's choice to have the film be more visually effective than w/ the actual story & dialouge.

Are you talking about the movie "A Mighty Wind"? W/ Christopher Guest & Micheal McKean?

You should. There is a 3 book in one version with Midlred Pierce, Double Indemnity, and The Post Man Always Rings Twice. Try to find that one.
