THEY are actually SUING people for that, saying you need a license to play music where others can hear it, even if you paid your $20 for the CD

you are legally allowed to make one back up of any cd or dvd, video or whatever for your own personal use. that is a right of the consumer!

in australia stores need liscences to play music, they pay a yearly fee and have to keep records of what they play so the money they pay get distributed correctly to the artists.

Actually, this is a very clever and well-timed marketing ploy by the music industry to get more people to buy LPs instead of CDs. The industry has realized its mistake with the whole digital revolution thing, including that music becomes easier to copy. So this move is to discourage people from buying CDs and to encourage them to buy LPs instead.

I think it's fucking brilliant! And long overdue.

its just plain stupid, i dont actually rip music onto my computer or download mp3s but i do record cds to tape to listen to in the car, and ill continue to do so.

i also give/lend old cds, recrods, books and dvds to my firends when ive finished with them,

i let my girlfriend keep her yogurt in my fridge,

sometimes if i like a song i might sing it in the shower,

sometimes i play music loud enough for people other than just myself to hear it, those fuckers should be locked up for stealing.
