Glenn Branca fucking rules
 

Just saying. I haven't listened to Bad Smells in awhile. He's written some of the most moving pieces of music.

I can think of more dissonant and louder music and crazier music. But nothing quite as perfectly taut and intense.

If only more people could write music the way he does.

About 14 bizillions times better than Branca. In fairness, it's about 14 bizillions times better than absolutely everything, so little beardy Glenny needn't feel bad.

I almost wrote a guitar symphony. Symphony no.1 Terminal Techniques I think is what it was called. I still have all the plans. I never wrote any music out though. Some day, some day.

i have trouble findind his recordings, anyone have any reccomendations where i could find his stuff?

I've posted many times about my love of Branca... world upside down, the acension, symphony 2, and lesson 1 are my favorites with my favorite song being "bad smells". I've listened to every officially released thing he's done, and it's all great.. am interested in hearing his "unofficially released" symphonies (4, 9, 11, 12, 13...) one day...

yeah i know, but i mean like stores, i still love going record shopping. amazon is usually like a last resort for me if theres somethin im dying to have.

that is one unorthodox orchestra layout, i guess the desks are organised from front to back, then left to right as the rostrum splays out.... and i must say glice i do prefer barenboim doing wagner to karajan doing beethoven, although that link you posted was very very good...

Amusingly, I didn't even watch it. I like Karajan doing the Beef Oven, but obviously Karajan should really be doing Wagner, or ideally, Mahler. Although it's all about Solti doing Strauss (etc).
