The Assassination Of Jesse James...
by the coward robert ford.
just finished watching it (decent movie as far as westerns go) and towards the end there's a scene in a bar w/ nick cave walking around singing w/ a guitar. sounds kinda different than he usually does, but it's definately him. thought i'd drop some knowledge. sorry if this has already been posted. |
Why do you not go out and think of posting in the right sections, you twat?
|
Nick and Warren Ellis did the score aswell.

yeah i'm excited about that. i still haven't heard it. i now it's good because nick cave hasn't done anything bad music or writing wise. |
OK flick. A little long and dragged out. I didn't really enjoy the voiceovers.
|
I loved the film.
I'm seing 3:10 to Yuma tonight. Not necessarily connected, but I thought I'd add that. |

It was an okay movie, I was happy at the end though. I won't say much. |
I was going to see Assassination of Jesse James last week, but ended up working late and missed it
For some reason I thought Nick Cave wrote the screenplay, but I'm getting mixed up (in a very big way) with Gladiator 2. |
if the movie is half as good as the soundtrack album then its a cracker of a film.....

It was a good movie. Enjoyed it. Although I would have wrote the ending differently. But, still a cool movie. The guy who wrote The Assassination... was the same guy who wrote and directed Chopper. His only two films actually. |
this movie was absolutley BRILLIANT, perfectly acted, great directing, beautiful landscapes, and nice and violent. it should be nominated for an academy award for best picture but their too chicken shit to have more than two gory films get the nod (which no country and there will be blood deservedly took), but the nominations imo should look like this:
no country there will be blood jesse james eastern promises and i guess, american gangster (it was flawed but it certainly should be on there over say, michael clayton) |
It's a good/great movie. Well-acted, well-directed, well-scored, Good performances. But all the same, There Will Be Blood is a million times better.
|
No one's mentioned the Proposition thus far.
|
the proposition was awesome! but fo rsome reason i felt liek it should've been gorier.
|
Unnessecary gore is just pointless though?
|
sometiems..... but it was written by fucking nick cave!
|
the proposition is already a couple years old, so why would it get mentioned (besides the cave/ellis thing)? but yeah, i love that movie, i got it on christmas 06 i believe and watched it twice. i cant wait till the next cave written film is shot. i cant quite remember what its gonna be about, but i remember him mentioning it during an interview for vbs.tv

that is only true unless its meant to add shock or humour to a film. takashi miike uses ultra blood and gore to either get a few laughs or to add a certain gut wrenching "holy fucking shit!" factor to his work. otherwise, excessive gore can be a bit tasteless. but then again, look at the old james bond films, some guy will get shot and somehow the bullet hole is so clean theres no blood whatsoever, wow! fuck that, when someone gets his head blown off theres gonna be blood, and lots of it. i thought the shower fight scene in eastern promises, which employed heaping amounts of blood and gore, was the BEST fight scene in the history of cinema. At the end when the seemingly dead guy wakes up and starts strangling viggo, so viggo snaps his arm in three places and puts the knife through his eyeball, that whole part was just to add more shock factor, and it worked brilliantly. |

well, dude, there will be blood will go down as a cinematic masterpiece, so you cant even compare the two really. theres a wicked big difference between great and masterpiece. |
