for me: the commecial alblum animal lover |
and i love alll their collabs with snakefinger (snakefinger=god of experimental singer songwriters)
|
Duck Stab
Eskimo Commercial Album Honorable mention to the unfinished Vileness Fats film. |
Commercial Album
Duck Stab I also really like Gingerbread Man and Not Available but most people hate these. |
I think my alltime favorite Residents tune might be Walter Westinghouse, but that's hard to say for sure.
|
Third Reich 'n' Roll. My first Rezzies album and still my favorite. I love all of their 70's material and the Commercial Album. The rest of their work since then I find pretty hit or miss.
|
duck stab/buster & glen
finger prince s/t third reich of rock n roll are my top 4. finger prince probably being the most favorite, mostly due to walter westinghouse as well! the residents were one of the first bands i obsessed about. i used to have this great 1" residents eye pin straight from the 70's but lost it one night biking in boston. been bummed ever since ... |
oh shit forgot the commercial album. actually between that and finger price are my favorites ...
|
pretty much, the only one i haven't liked by them so far that've listened to is the river of crimes.
i love them a lot. |
Their best is Duck Stab/Buster and Glen, though I said their "Classic" album is Third Reich N Roll in that little thing I do that no one cares about.
I actually own everything they've ever done. One of the bands you really need the liner notes and the art and stuff to fully appreciate their work. Their DVD's are amazing by the way. I'm obviously a big fan of their first era more than their mid-period era (aside from TITLE IN LIMBO, but I'll get to that in a second) but they seem to have redeemed themselves with the newer stuff. Anyway, I love Title in Limbo, and I reccomend EVERYONE check out Renaldo and the Loaf whose "Arabic Yodeling" alone is better than everything the Residents recorded. Amazing band. Snakefinger's great, I only have one album by him (which is a collection of some of his hits, including "jesus is a leprechaun"). He's awesome. In fact, he's a totally underrated guitar player; he's almost as inventive as someone like Helios Creed.. I wonder why no one ever talks about him. |
renaldo and the loaf are awesome too.
|
They have a video on youtube (that's also on one of the residents dvds) that everyone needs to check out...
Another great band associated with the Residents is this band MX-80 Sound. They're slow and monotonous, it honestly sounds like Low sometimes but it's fused with some of the weirdest lyrics and hooks (and ridiculous guitar lines that literally come out of NOWHERE) at times. Check them out, everyone. |
i only knowmeet the....and it is mazing
breath and length is brilliant, and the dog barking ast the beginning of the track-unbeleivable |
God in Three Persons.
Creepy, poetic, theatrical, cheese tinged |
Had to bump this for God in Three Persons. My new favorite Residents album. I had a friend into this band like 10 years ago and he needed money so I bought pretty much everything they've ever done off of him and listened to it all but I guess I didn't pay much attention to Three Persons at the time.
This album is fucking amazing. It's basically a redneck narrating a story in iambic pantameter (sp?!) about siamese twin sex over the organ riff from DOUBLE SHOT OF MY BABY'S LOVE. It's just amazing. Get that one immediately, everyone. |
|
third reich of rock n roll is quite ok. Never saw the real big deal about them.
|
thanks for the link adam, im downloading it now. id repp you if i could
|
Eskimo

Animal Lover, Duckstab, and I appreciate the single album Beyond the Valley of A Day in the Life in a different way.
Best song? Gingerbread man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0chizIdYXA |
