chris lawrence, chris habib, moshe... help? mic question
 

hey peeps,

i'm dialing in the sounds for the new RECS OF THE FLESH cd, and been experimenting a lot with mics and amps... found out a killer amp which gives me the warmth i was looking for, now mic'ing is a whole another world as we all know.

i found a sweet spot with a shure SM57 off axis on the speaker, now i was curious to experiment with a second mic but my condensers don't cut like I thought... i ended up checking out T's amp and mics... get the pic:




I think that one on the top is reminescent of an SM58, and the other one looks like a sennheiser MD421II - is that what it is? or, what are those anyway? :)

any help is appreciated. thanx!

the one down on the left is a senn md 421, it's a great mic that i'm pretty sure T uses even on recording, not only live---don't know about the other one...

figurati! perchè dici stranissimo piazzamento? considera che è davvero un mic della madonna, molto meno sensibile al posizionamento rispetto ad esempio ad un sm57---praticamente suona bene ovunque lo metti, e soprattutto riporta molto più fedelmente ciò che suoni.

esatto, è della madonna insieme al cartellino del prezzo... ma pensavo fosse a diagramma largo tipo chessò un c3000 dell'akg e si piazzasse frontalmente... perdio!

effettivamente costa caro---ma non disperare: io l'ho cercato per svariati mesi ad un prezzo umano, e alla fine l'ho portato a casa usato per poco più che 100 euro! Dicono che accoppiarlo con l'sm57 sia la morte sua, io ho avuto entrambi ma, causa che non sono MAI riuscito a cavare un suono decente dallo shure, non mi hanno mai soddisfatto assieme. Infatti poi ho subito venduto l'sm..

Scusa l'ignoranza, ma cosa significa "a diagramma largo"? E cosa intendi per "piazzasse frontalmente"?

per diaframma largo intendo per esempio il mistico c414 dell'akg:




il piazzamento del mic in questo caso è frontale rispetto alla sorgente che si deve riprendere.

EDIT: ho notato adesso che per una svista totale lassopra ho scritto diagramma anzichè diaframma... son fuso. pardon!
