The Monome is good, but don't you have to link it to a PC?

The Tenori's self contained.

The other thing I like about it is the midi out so you can use it control external devices or link to another Tenori.

_slavo_ 03.12.2008 10:54 AM

oooh, now I'd love to try it out desperately

Everyneurotic 03.12.2008 10:59 AM

Don't remember anything like this being around in the 80's - do you have a specific instrument in mind?
Or are you mistaking it for a Speak & Spell? :D

Everyneurotic 03.12.2008 11:09 AM

no, but in the 80's, a lot of instrument makers started making and marketing many flashy electronic instruments, then stopped making them in the 90's.

yeah you would need a pc for the monome. i didn't even think about the differences of self contained vs pc use since i always incorporate a pc into my music creation process. the monone is essentially just a midi controller.

Push mode rules!! Fucking great for producing low frequency resonating drones. I tried it through my home stereo speakers yesterday - I kid you not - stuff was falling off shelves!!

krastian 04.09.2008 01:54 PM

Man, that is so great that you got one. Even if it didn't make crazy music, it would still be fun to play around with for the lights alone!! Seems like it can do a lot of fun stuff. Hopefully more and more of these "new age" electronic instruments keep coming out.

Did it come with software/how easy is it to record what you made?

Come with 253 voices pre-programmed with space to add 3 of your own (each voice has 16 parts so that's 48 samples you can load), a 16 track sequencing programme (but each set of 16 tracks can be saved as a block and you can run 16 blocks at the same time).

The more I mess with it the more I like it.:D

krastian 04.09.2008 03:04 PM

That's so great.

I'd really like to get one once they get over here!!
