I am a big observer, i love to sit back and watch people of all kinds go about their lives doing everyday things.

i love watching peoples body language and awkward moments and watching peoples slight eye movements when in a certain situation.

My question is, what can i do with all this that i gain from observing people, surely there is something that i can do that will put it to use.

if i had a video camera i could try recreate awkward scenes, i guess like what ricky gervais does, but i wouldn't want to be copying him, just copying what people do. i dont know.. just thinking out loud

When I was in Europe with my family and my extended family, my grandmother and my aunt talked about wanting to find a nice cafe and just "people watch." Like it's the new hip thing.

I thought they were fucking nutcases.


But yeah, detective might be a good job for you

By people watching I assume you mean also body language etc, not just the general attire. There are many things you can do if you have such talent:

1. Visual artist
2. Psychologist
3. Criminal
4. Voyeur

Mmmmmm, yes.

I like to observe people too. It's a good way to suss out this thing we call society.

Usually if I'm in the city, I'll spend about half an hour just sitting around and taking in the scene. (And then I move on - hey I got stuff to do as well).

So last week I was at Flinders St. Station (In Melbourne AUS for those of you paying attention) just hanging around. It was a really hot day and there were all these sexy girls walking past (and a few sexy boys too - but they didn't quite do it for me).

Suddenly this girl struts by wearing a short skirt which showed off her pair of leg tattoos. She had a straight line running up the back of both legs (like the seam of a stocking) with a bow at the top.

I really wanted to say hello and find out more about her and those tattoos. So I was trying to decide, "Should I" or "Shouldn't I".

Meanwhile, she had made her way out of the station and was heading down busy Swanston St. I tried to catch up, but there were so many people hanging around the city that day and I lost her after a couple of blocks.

I saw her again later in the day giving directions to some exchange student, but the moment had passed and I was too wussy to talk to her.

So I could never be a detective. It's not just about the observing, you have to be quick on your feet too.

I really should have pushed those nuns out of the way - then I could've caught up with the tattoo girl....
