Isn't it the same as style though? In reality style could be the substance said person has created. That's just my opinion.

style is surface visual. purely superficial, easily copied, easily forgotten, easily re-created. (ask maclaren and his rip-off of Richard Hell's "style)

substance is the actual matter that a person is made of, the REAL DEAL, their mind, thoughts, ideas, knowledge, wisdom, creations, etc.

baudelaire looks like a USA president from the 1800's.

But isn't that part of what you said the superficial? A lot of people embody thoughts, ideas, wisdom, creation, etc. They use style to lure a person into what they are trying to say.

"Now, if it is deemed necessary that I should forfeit my life for the furtherance of the ends of justice, and mingle my blood farther with the blood of my children and the blood of millions in this slave country whose rights are disregarded by wicked, cruel, and unjust enactments, I say let it be done.." John Brown before his execution

Vincente Guerrero, the second president of mexico, half-black, was deposed and executed in six monthes for attempting to free the slaves and remove the caste laws that subjugated the indians.
