your relationship with yo parents

what's your relationship like with each of your parents?

mine:

momma - as good as it can get. she's great and i'm a self confessed momma's boy. probably why i, er, 'bat for the other team'. love your mom, dudes!
dad - stale. not great. he can't be bothered with his kids, and we can't be bothered with him.

:eek:

I love my mommy. She's the sweetest and classiest lady ever. She's a total ditz. Never a problem. Never an argument. It's all great. My stepdad is pretty wonderful as well.

I see my dad everyday. He's very generous and brilliant, but vengeful and mean spirited. We mostly get along great, but sometimes he likes to work me over and upset me intentionally. He can upset me like no one else.

My parents are pretty cool. They come to my shows and stuff because they are into it, and not out of a misplaced sense of "obligation" that turns the whole thing into an endurance trial. They're very encouraging and supportive people, and we see eye-to-eye on a lot of important things.
We get along very well; I haven't actually argued with them over much of anything at all for at least a dozen years or more.

my parents live half a continent away (and I like it that way).

besides, I'm not convinced that we're even related.

mum = ok
dad = non existent

Inhuman 04.07.2008 12:14 PM

Neat thread idea.

Mom - very concerned and caring person, but wants to 'hang on' to me even though I'm getting older. We get along great

Stepdad - not so well. Feels the need to be dominant and doesn't give reason to his decisions. Left-brain dominant construction site superintendant and doesn't appreciate art like I do

PAULYBEE2656 04.07.2008 12:18 PM

very close to both of them. annoying and cool in both ways. they are both in their 60s now so the age andhealth thing is beginning to worry me but they are off to alaska for a month in september so they are ok! nice people!

fugazifan 04.07.2008 12:24 PM

they live 7000 miles away from me, but we are very close. ,mo mom is insane and has the sickest sense of humor. with jokes like
me: (stubs toe) Fuck!
mom: not right now, im busy.

she was a nerd when she was little and didnt have much friends, so i think we turned her into a monster. i try to talk with her as often as i can. i am very close to my father too. in all my whole family is very supportive and seems to only care about e us following our own dreams and accomplishing as much as we can.
its a pretty good envirnment to be in
but i do miss them a lot. i have been on my own in the middle east (with an older brother in tel aviv) since age 19.

mother - good
father - very little in common, difficult person to get along with, hardly ever speak to him.

SYRFox 04.07.2008 12:27 PM

My mother is great. I haven't seen my father for two years now (except for a 2 minutes argument a year and a half ago)

Inhuman 04.07.2008 12:33 PM

INSANITYY how many people don't get along with their fathers.

sarramkrop 04.07.2008 12:42 PM

Mum = good
Father = dead

!@#$%! 04.07.2008 12:48 PM

both good, different from each other. my dad and i used to butt heads constantly but we've sorted out our differences and enjoy hanging out and discussing all manner of crap. my mom some times gets on my nerves, she's a little ADHD and it's hard to keep the thread of the conversation, but i love her of course.

Savage Clone 04.07.2008 12:51 PM

I have a dead father too, but he died when I was three, so I really don't view my dad now as a "stepfather," since I have known him for 32 years and he has been a father in every sense.

My bio dad's family occasionally contacts me because my name is on the web from all the music stuff. Kinda weird; they're like a sort of "shadow family" that I have never really known (bio dad was sort of the black sheep and I didn't really have any contact with that part of my family aside from my Great Grandmother who died when I was 16). They seem nice enough, but they're kind of like friendly strangers to me since I didn't grow up with them at all...

LittlePuppetBoy 04.07.2008 01:02 PM

very close to both of mine (despite the frequent nagging)

Glice 04.07.2008 01:28 PM

I get on with both my parents handsomely. My mother is a mental Irish lady who is literally the most generous host you'll ever meet. My Dad's a miserable, pugnacious, argumentative cunt (in the very nicest possible way) so we get on amazingly well (once I got over the teenage boy thing of hating my father because he was like me).

uhler 04.07.2008 01:29 PM

my father is a dead beat dad

my mother is great. nice and caring. when i was growing up though she was pretty abusive emotionally and mentally. but i'm older now and i'm sure she was going through hard times herself.

mine are excellent. they let me do what i want with some advice.

Savage Clone 04.07.2008 02:01 PM

Wow, you're in your twenties and your parents let you do what you want?
Like you can put up that Marilyn Manson poster and they don't make you take it down?
