The Mackie 1604VLZ is a reall good 16-4-2 mixer. They're not too expensive either. They also do a 1202, which I hear good things about. But if you're going for budget then Behringers aren't a bad choice either. |

I'll second that. There maybe no need for the Behringer.A quick visit to ebay; you can pick up one of those Mackie desks for a good price.I'd recommend the mixer bag too if you're using it for mainly live stuff. Protect your investment. The 1402vlz is pretty good too.All depends on how many channels you need. I'm pretty sure all these desks are provide phantom power too. |
Skip the Behringer go with Mackie cheap mixers can result in unwanted noise like hissing & hummming...

True, but with the Behringer being about $300 and the mackie being about $600, then in a live situation the humming that you may not get from a mackie (but MAY get from a Behringer) isn't really worth an extra $300.If you're on a budget, it's only unless you want expand the use for the desk, when factors of humming an hissing come into play. Personally I would always buy the best I can.I do know many people that are on a budget and they have Behringers,I have never noticed any problems with noise, even when they've used them in a recording environment . I will agree, the build quality isn't as good, but it's still quite sturdy for half the price. What I'm saying is don't be afraid to go Behringer, if money is a big problem. But I would higly recommend the Mackies - they're built to last and sound better than some mixers twice their price. |
I agree I going for a 3 or 4 channel mixer Behringer offers some good deals and their mixers come with alot of features but what's that worth when it breaks down. I have to wait & save for a good Vestax. I hear you on the budget but I like to go with something a bit more reliable. What ever you do save your loot & do some online research...
