melvins - nude with boots

I'm listening right now to my illegally downloaded copy.

You know, it's really good. Keep in mind I loved A Senile Animal except for maybe a track or two (though I don't know too many people who did), and this sounds pretty similiar so far.. I mean, it's still the Melvins, right? But it's not one of those overly experimental Melvins albums.

Great riffs, GREAT drumming, interesting songwriting. Etc. Need to listen to it more but I'm already enjoying it over a Senile Animal...

I agree completely. I saw Billy Fish, & Suicide In Progress in concert last year, & was blown away by the impact in which these songs resinate. & Nude With Boots has many different style of composition as well, which makes it even better. All around great record.

MELVINS are better then ever!

atsonicpark 04.22.2008 11:08 AM

Yeah, I think their earlier stuff is amazing, of course, and their mid-period stuff was.. usually alright.. but they sound completely re-energized on the new stuff. It's amazing! Adding the additional drummers really helped. They've been together, what, 23 years or something? I mean, Jesus.

atsonicpark 04.22.2008 11:15 AM

Soulseek www.slsknet.org ... Add formerbusboy ... he gets all new releases right away .. or add use Yanni who also gets new releases right away...

Or if you have bittorrent (www.bittorrent.com) you should just type in "melvins nude with boots torrent".

Or if you have irc... there's all kinds of irc chat rooms that'll be sharing it... I haven't been on there in years though.

Enough google searching could probably direct you towards an FTP or a blog who also has it posted...

I'd upload it to you but I'm on dialup at my house (I'm on DSL when I go to my grandpa's to take care of him which is a few days a week)..

Actually, they had the release of Mangled Demos 1983, so if you go from that 25 years, & more 'cuz they had to be around before recording those demos. It's just great to see a band make it's own generations, ya' know.

& definitely, Cody is a great addition. & I've noticed, he's not even a double bass drummer. I'm sure he does DB sometimes, but not live. Of course, Dale covers that part parfectly.

Melvinites are not one to shun, we're MELVINS.

atsonicpark 04.22.2008 11:35 AM

Pauly, you just have a big problem with anything that is slow and heavy.. Isis, Neurosis, this stuff.. haha.. no biggy, just noticing.

batreleaser 04.22.2008 12:09 PM

Me too.
And I have nothing against heavy/slow music ( I like Killdozer ).

marleypumpkin 04.22.2008 12:18 PM

I also like the solo EP's they did. King Buzzo's was brutal...meaning amazing.

batreleaser 04.22.2008 01:33 PM

yeah thew solo ep's were awesome and hilarious. inspired by the kiss solo records, brilliance.

melvins are one of the most inspirational bands on todays music for sure. every slow heavy band generally will cite them as an influence. they also pretty much created grunge. and theyve always done so by being weird and different as possible. melvins and sonic youth are the most resilient bands of all time. name one other band who has been around for 25 plus years and is still making relevant, hip, groundbreaking tunes.

charles eugene 04.22.2008 02:15 PM

Yea, they can rock, the guitar sounds so killer. I think the drummer addition is freakin awesome. Nothin better than goin home and blaring some Melvins, i wish i knew where to get a hold of some Big Business

Everyneurotic 04.22.2008 02:42 PM

killdozer are not heavy.

gualbert 04.22.2008 02:46 PM

Oh yes they are ( well , not ultra heavy , decently heavy ).

Absolutely. Their length of time being in existance, not to mention the discographies between these two unique groups, should be a testament to anyone even vaguely interested in music, of any kind.

johnnywinternoshow 04.23.2008 04:43 AM

I'm going to wait and buy it so I hear it fresh the first time I put it on, A Senile Animal is maybe my favourite Melvins... at least at the moment, I'm in love with teh drumming and A History of Bad Men (if that's the one that goes "I've got a head start runnin' away") such an amazing bass groove going on there

pokkeherrie 04.23.2008 06:17 AM

I've never really liked them either. But I think I'll have to change my mind, at least regarding them as a live band.

It took until the 4th time of seeing them live that I found them good (great even). Then the 5th time was 2 days later in a collaboration with Keiji Haino and that was the most awesome thing I've seen in 2008 so far. I haven't heard the new one, but if they're touring this record then I'm definitely going.

Toilet & Bowels 04.23.2008 06:37 AM

killdozer are heavy, and better than the melvins

atsonicpark 04.23.2008 11:34 AM

If you like A Senile Animal, you'll LOVE this album.

My thing about the Melvins is that they're almost always different.. even though this is pretty similiar to the last album, at least they're repeating something they did that was great instead of repeating the Maggot or something...

But yeah. Great band.
