One of the worst writer I know.
He had nothing to say , except " I want to be a writer ".
( I have only read the Deer Park , btw )

Ha ha ha. I love it. You read one of his books and you're qualified to say he was one of the worst writer (sic) you know.

Why do you use caps on some phrases, like High Connections, and Veterans of Our Wars. That kind of crap bugs me.

Mailer's inconsistent. When he's on, he's great; when he's off, he's horrid. I couldn't stand Armies of the Night, but I liked Naked and Dead okay, and I think some of his shorter essays are outstanding. I think he's best at the personal essay sort of nonfiction. His magazine journalism in the 50s, early 60s, was pretty interesting, too.

I hope right now he's up there giving God hell, and maybe even a good punch in the stomach.
