amelia
![]() has anyone seen this movie? i remember seeing it on tv a few years back, but i only got through half of it cause i had no idea what was going on. Did anyone understand the plot to this film? The leading lady in the movie is also stars in the da vinci code which also made no sense. The book was so much better. What a waste of money. half the people in the theater left like a hour through. |
It's basically just about the lady on the cover going around and helping people. It's a real feel good flick. It's from that Jeunet cat that did city of lost children and Delicatessen.

I'd been wanting to see it and it came on IFC a while back. I thought it was a really good movie. I think the plot basically involved her falling in love with a guy and giving him clues on how to find her. I've got to rent it soon cauze I forgot what happened.

before i saw the movie i always wondered what's wrong with the girl on the cover. why is she so pale? does it have to with something in the movie or does she just look weird?

Amelie is an incredibly shy girl that is incredibly quirky and is in love with the world. She finds the scrapbook of a young man who collects discarded photobooth pictures and falls in love with him without meeting him. She is determined to meet him, but her shyness gets the way.
Jean-Jacques Jeunet is a brilliant filmmaker. His first 2 films- Delicatessen and City of Lost Children are much darker than Amelie, but have that same sort of quirky sense of humour and artistic vision. As far as the Da Vinci code, I have not read the book nor have I seen the movie. It just sounds stupid to me. Gnostic writings are noncanonical to the bible for very obvious reasons. The idea of Christ having a bloodline was thus dismissed until royalty wanted a way to make their power seem even more of a mandate. So they said they were the descendants of Christ. Since the bible didn't support it, they looked to false gnostic writings about Christ. Which isn't that far fetched, since gnosticism and paganism are very similar and europeans were and are still very close to their pagan roots. |
Ummm, I think it was just suppose to look cool.

okay so i think from what i have heard there is no serious plot to follow. i guess i'll watch it again with that in mind

There is a plot and a bunch of subplots. It is a love story. By the way, check out who I have been married to for the last 2 years. http://cmu.facebook.com/p.php?id=4801189&l=bb4c1fd434 |
Amelie is a great movie. I thought that the plot was easy to follow.
I saw The Da Vinci Code in the theater the other day. It was pretty terrible. I won't be reading the book. |
i think the movie was meant for people who have read the book because if you notice in the movie, they explain everything so fast, as if you are already suppose to know it.

Thanks, i'll delete that dumbass statement. Noumenal's comment threw me off.

Kind of creepy though ahah :o I've never seen Amelie, all I remember hearing about it was someone on the old board was like in love with her, don't remember who though. If I see it in the video store I'll try to rent it :) |
I am in love with her.

Yeah, she's great. I really do love that movie, I get teary-eyed at certain parts.
