Os Mutantes in McDonald's Commercial
So i was watching the nba finals last night and as it went to commercial I heard "A Minha Menina" coming from the screen. I stared at the tv confused, wtf! Os mutantes music on a commercial and just to add to the strangeness it was a mcdonald's ad.These kids are playing a soccer game and the winning team gets a trophy but the losers are happier with mcdonalds food all while some fuzzy guitar plays over it. This was so bizarre it took a while for me to wrap my head around what had just happened.
Part of me is happy that the os mutantes are getting some new exposure maybe attract some new fans but on the other hand I don't like their unique version of psych associated with some greedy corporate giant. Has anyone else seen this ad yet? What you think about it? |
I saw the ad last night, but I didn't hear any music. I was kinda zoned out.
|
I'm all for Os Mutantes getting more exposure, but not like this.
Depressing. |
Here we go with the sell out point. Sorry, if a band wants to make money in a corporate fashion let them. As long as the music is good.

Yes, but if it means getting exposure why not?

chances are people who already know who os mutantes are will be the only ones who'll know it's them in the commercial.
i doubt it's going to bring them new exposure, they'll get more royalties, though. |
I never got the whole sell-out thing. Can someone tell me why people get testy about the issue?

Some people equate popularity/money with shittiness. Usually they are right, but there are many artists that can pull it off. Remember kids, you're only a sell-out if you start sucking! |
I want another her.

Thank you. |
Os Mutantes
I'm lovin' it. |
I didn't know that Gal Costa was a lezzer till recently. Apparently she came out 5 years ago. She's awesome that woman, she really is.
|
Os Mutantes are geniuses, full stop. For proper Rio good music though, full-on favela Baile Funk can't be beat.
|
i reckon those brothers could probably do with the cash, at their reunion show at the barbican one of them was trying to hawk his paintings that were done with glitter paint, they were astoundingly bad.
|
T & B - I can relate- how about Faust in 1997 flogging their Peel Session 12"s at their gig (with "hand painted" nude cock paint pressings") for £20 at cost?!? (For everyine else, that would be the equivalent of paying £35/$70 now...)
