Most things really aren't worth getting excited about are they.
When you think about it.
|
Yes, things you wouldn't consider a "good" experience are generally not worth getting excited about.
|
i know.
|
I had a bit of a thing earlier when I was ignoring a pretty/ boring person who was wittering on about something or other - Life is pretty fucking alright. It might not stay this way, but by God it's great to be me right now.
|
Depends on your frame of mind. It's all what you make of it. A lot of the time, what you get excited about just disappoints you while unexpected events and circumstances make it worth everything and more. I've thoroughly enjoyed some shitty concerts for reasons I could hardly explain.

Life is exciting when you breath it in. Go smell flowers. It will do you wonders.

Yeah, I'm hardly ever excited. Even sex has lost its magic.

I was actually described as being pretentious earlier today by someone I know in a quite vague way. I'd used the word zeitgeist during a pub discussion in which I was criticising Radiohead and this apparantly turned me into a pseudo intellectual. The person who accused me of this was wearing a Star Wars T shirt, baggy combat style shorts and flip flops. Just so you get a fuller picture as to the depths of his prickishness. |
Yes, but using the word zeitgeist? Shame on you.
|
It was in context. Unlike his flip flops.
|
shame on both of you.
though, i understand dr666 itch to use a word such as "zeitgeist", it twatens a sentence like nothing and can be a test for the other end of the conversation to either find the humour in it or to know if he/she is twice the twat you are portraying. having said that, anyone with that kind of attire gives nothing but thoughts of shaking my head sideways whispering "shame shame shame" to myself. |
Seriously calling someone pretentious to their face for a stupid reason like that is more obnoxious and unecessary than using big words.
Even if zeitgeist is very hard to put in context. Unless you were comparing Yorke to Billy Corgan. |
I agree that it's a twatty word and would never use it without recognising that fact. The problem with using words ironically is that it relies on the person you're talking to having a modicum of irony themselves. Which evidently wasn't so, in the case of Mr Chewbacca T shirt.

most things, no, really aren't worth getting excited about
